Job Description
As a Software Engineer at AnaVation, you will be a key member of the engineering team, providing technical support in planning, designing, testing, integrating, configuring, and delivering software services across development, test, and production environments. You will also participate in quarterly Agile Development Planning and customer meetings. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and documenting new system capabilities or enhancements, supporting and maintaining existing infrastructure and applications, integrating new data sources, performing database management, system configuration, and automating operations. The work will be in classified environments using Linux.
Must have:
- TS/SCI Eligible security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support certifications.
- Software development in classified environments using Linux.
- Experience with Software Development, Test, and Configuration Management (e.g. Git, Git Hub).
- Experience with PHP.
- Experience with JavaScript and associated frameworks (NextJS, React, etc).
- Experience with Python and associated frameworks (e.g., Django).
- Experience with REST API development (server and client).
- Expertise scripting in Bash and experience in automating tasks with tools like Ansible.
- Experience with developing, securing and delivering software updates and enhancements.
- Demonstrated technical writing.
- Demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated strong initiative to accept new technical challenges in complex system engineering assignments.
Good to have:
- Active SCI with Polygraph.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Active CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent certifications.
- AWS or Linux certifications.
- 8 years of relevant technical experience.
- Agile development experience.
- Understanding of Agile development tools (Jira, Confluence, etc).
- AWS or other Cloud certifications.
- Linux Systems administration or Systems Engineering experience.
- Experience supporting full lifecyle A&A process for classified DoD or IC infrastructure and application service delivery.

AnaVation is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in support of a mission-critical customer in Reston, VA. This full-time, on-site role requires availability during core hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM), with flexibility outside of core hours to complete a standard 8-hour workday.

You will also participate in quarterly Agile Development Planning and customer meetings as needed.
Our team works with AWS cloud services, including deployment updates of Elastic, RHEL, and WSUS environments, along with cross-domain integration and automation. We support and enhance a range of core applications and data services relied upon by multiple Government Agencies.
The Software Engineer will:
Design, develop, test, and document new system capabilities or enhancements to existing systems
Support and maintain existing infrastructure and applications
Integrate new data sources into secure mission systems
Perform database management, system configuration, load balancing, storage allocation, and documentation validation
Automate operations in cloud and Linux-based environments
Conduct system-level integration of software components to meet customer requirements
Create and execute system testing and support all phases of the application development lifecycle

Required Qualifications:
- Clearance: TS/SCI Eligible, willing to obtain polygraph
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
- Certifications: Currently hold, or be able to attain certification in the following:
- DoD 8570 IAT II and CSSP Infrastructure Support certifications (CompTIA CySA+ preferred or equivalent certifications that cover both requirements acceptable such as both Security+ and Cloud+) within 30 days of contract start.
- Location: Full time on-site in Reston, VA.
- Software development in classified environments using Linux.
- Software Development, Test, and Configuration Management (such as Git, Git Hub)
- PHP
- JavaScript and associated frameworks (NextJS, React, etc)
- Python and associated frameworks (e.g., Django)
- REST API development (server and client)

- Demonstrated technical writing.

Hands-on experience and knowledge with the following:
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desired Clearance: Active SCI with Polygraph
- Desired Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field
- Desired Certifications: Active CompTIA CySA+ or equivalent certifications covering both DoD 8570 IAT II and
- CSSP Infrastructure Support. Computing Environment certification such as AWS or Linux certifications.
- Experience:
- 8 years of relevant technical experience.
- Agile development experience
- Understanding of Agile development tools (Jira, Confluence, etc)
- AWS or other Cloud certifications
- Linux Systems administration or Systems Engineering experience
