Job Description

The Google Augmented Reality Team is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their motion tracking team. This team is responsible for the foundational world-sensing technology that enables devices to track and understand their surroundings using on-board sensors in real-time for the AR ecosystem and Alphabet-wide applications. The calibration and system test (CaST) team works on designing, implementing and validating the calibration and verification algorithms/processes for augmented reality platforms, which are essential for achieving delightful AR experiences, driving ideation and development cross-functionally to chart the future capabilities needed by our AR devices. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop next generation calibration and system test metrologies for our AR devices. You will also initiate, contribute to, or lead novel calibration and system test processes from first principles to algorithmic design and production implementation. You will work with stakeholders to define calibration and system test requirements and verify sub-system/system level performance metrics. You will also help triage system failures and debug calibration related issues.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++ and Python languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience testing, maintaining or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field (computer vision, robotics, geometrical optics, or sensor calibration).
  • 1 year of experience with Computer Vision or Robotics software.
  • Experience with developing calibration/verification systems from initial research to production.
  • Experience with numerical algorithms and optimization such as LS, NLLS, batch optimization, bundle adjustment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
