Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer, Mobile, iOS, Photos to contribute to the development and improvement of its popular Photos product. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, contributing to documentation, debugging and resolving system issues, participating in design reviews, and ensuring best practices are followed. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in iOS application development, proficiency in data structures and algorithms, and strong debugging skills. The role involves working on a critical project with opportunities to switch teams and projects. The work contributes to a product used by billions of users, focusing on aspects like photo sharing and storage, involving client-side, server-side, and machine intelligence development.

Must have:

2+ years iOS development experience
Proficiency in data structures/algorithms
Code review and debugging skills
Contribute to documentation
Participate in design reviews

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS
Experience with large-scale systems
Experience developing accessible technologies
Software test engineering proficiency

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
2 years of experience with iOS application development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
