As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll build and maintain complex web applications for Disney Studio brands like ABC, Marvel, Disney, and Star Wars. You'll use modern technologies (JavaScript, Node, React) to create scalable solutions for new features and core site architecture. Responsibilities include architecting and developing core site functionality using server-side templating and JavaScript, prototyping new features, implementing best practices for performance and scalability, code review, working with product management, collaborating with other engineering teams, and mentoring junior engineers.
Must have:
  • Proven front-end web development skills
  • JavaScript, JS frameworks, server-side templating expertise
  • Experience with task automation and CSS preprocessors
  • Ability to research and learn new technologies
  • Strong communication and attention to detail
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will be part of a diverse and talented organization focused on building and maintaining complex web applications for Disney Studio brands.  You will be a member of a team building the experiences for some of the most recognizable brands in the world such as ABC, Marvel, Disney, and Star Wars working with modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop core site functionality using server-side templating and JavaScript.

  • Prototype new features and research applicable technologies

  • Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability,

  • Review code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are met.

  • Work with product and project management to refine specs and timelines.

  • Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions.

  • Mentor and provide feedback to junior engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating.

  • Experience with task automation (Grunt, Gulp, WebPack) and CSS Preprocessors (Less, Sass).

  • Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Driven and self-motivated.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Required Education:

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, California and Bristol, CT is $138,900.00 to $186,200.00 per year and in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $145,400.00 to $195,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
