The Staff Operations Specialist will be responsible for enhancing the overall health of the Reddit platform, working with the Reddit Community and supporting mod and user experience. Responsibilities include assessing policy compliance, investigating and analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, developing data-driven strategies, and collaborating with various teams to improve enforcement. The role involves responding to real-time incidents and requires a self-driven leader with experience in scaled enforcement programs.

Reddit’s Safety Ops team is looking for a self-driven leader with experience collaborating cross-functionally on scaled enforcement programs and a passion for content & behavioral policy enforcement. As a Staff Operations Specialist, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our massive Reddit Community to enhance the overall health of the platform as well as our mod and user experience. 

Our team is on the front lines working with our users every day responding to real-time incidents. We partner with other Safety Enforcement teams (data science, threat detection, anti-spam), Safety Engineering teams (tools and product), User Research, ML, Community, and our Trust Policy Team to keep Reddit’s communities and users protected from unwanted experiences. If you have a background in online safety, and enjoy deep dive investigations into abusive content and bad actors, then we want to hear from you! 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as escalation point-of-contact to swiftly assess policy compliance and act on sensitive issues that affect users and internal stakeholders
  • Perform investigations and deep dive analyses to identify meaningful data clusters of users based on usage patterns, actions taken and content interacted with
  • Troubleshoot and identify bugs or user-related issues, working with our stakeholders to seek resolutions or fixes while mitigating risk
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to inform operations and provide input for planning cycles.
  • Partner with various Product and Data teams to to deliver insights and drive continuous improvement in the tooling and scalability of our enforcement teams
  • Represent Safety perspectives on larger cross-functional company projects 
  • Exude patience and positivity in the Community and contribute to a growing safety-first organization
  • Contribute to sharing and evolving overall team vision and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant Safety Operations experience in the Internet industry, social media, and online communities, often dealing with sensitive or graphic content
  • Fluent in data analysis and able to deliver data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated history of breadth of influence and is sought out as an expert by coss-functional partners
  • Well-versed in Content Moderation Tools and workflow management software (ticketing)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment while driving change and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule in order to respond to real-time world events
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Functions well in high-pressure escalations and can smoothly take the lead
