This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on developing Gemini, Google's conversational AI tool, for iOS. Responsibilities include designing and implementing key functionalities, building scalable infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams (model, client, infra), proposing technical direction, and working on complex, evolving problems. The role involves significant design and architectural decisions, and collaboration with product and UX teams to define product strategy and roadmap. The engineer will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and enhance software solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with iOS technologies and large-scale system design.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience working with iOS technologies or front end frameworks.
Experience in designing large distributed and scalable systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Design and implement mission critical functionalities that users love. Work with numerous teams throughout the Gemini model, client and Infra to build a scalable infrastructure that powers all of the rich functionalities above. Help explore the best ways to solve problems, propose the technical direction and drive the same while demonstrating leadership skills.
Work on open-ended, complex, and constantly evolving problems. Be involved in the design and architectural decisions, as well as collaborate with Product Manager, User Experience (UX) to define product strategy and roadmap.
