Our passionate teams of creative professionals consist of industry veterans from renowned studios such as PlayStation, Codemasters, Sumo Digital, Interior Night and Mediatonic who are working on some exciting VR, multiplayer and mobile titles. At SWG we follow some key values:

  • We are optimistic & brave
  • We are honest & open
  • We take ownership & responsibility

ABOUT YOU:

Are you passionate about creating stunning, intuitive menu interfaces for video games? We’re looking for a talented UI/UX Artist who excels in crafting 4K quality interfaces that are not only visually appealing but also optimised for console controllers. You will transform wireframes and branding concepts into fully realised in-game menus within Unreal Engine, working closely with a team of coders to ensure your designs function seamlessly in the game world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop visually striking and user-friendly menu interfaces in Unreal Engine based on existing UX wireframes and branding guidelines.
  • Ensure designs are optimised for both performance and aesthetics in 4K resolution, maintaining compatibility with gamepad/controller navigation.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to bring your designs to life, ensuring they function smoothly across platforms.
  • Work within console-specific technical requirements to guarantee that menus adhere to platform guidelines (e.g., PlayStation, Xbox, Switch).
  • Maintain and manage UI assets, optimising for performance without sacrificing quality.
  • Problem-solve any design or technical issues that may arise, ensuring that the final product delivers an exceptional user experience.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine, with a focus on UI/UX design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of console-specific technical requirements and challenges when designing for controllers.
  • Exemplary portfolio showcasing high-quality 4K interface designs for games, particularly menu systems optimised for controller inputs.
  • Ability to take existing wireframes, iterate on them, and transform them into fully functional and beautiful in-game screens.
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX principles for both gameplay and non-gameplay elements.
  • Collaborative mindset – you’ll work closely with coders, designers, and other team members to ensure the best possible player experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in creating UI for both console and PC platforms.
  • Familiarity with motion graphics and animations for enhancing UI elements.
  • Knowledge of UI optimization techniques to ensure smooth performance across all devices.
  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams within a fast-paced development environment.

Benefits

  • Salary: £50K-£60K FTE / Daily Rate for contractor: £200-£250 DOE
  • Remote-first Studio
  • Regular team social events & studio summits and networking opportunities
  • Working alongside a friendly, flexible, and highly talented team
  • Opportunity to work on the future of immersive storytelling and big-name IPs

To tell better stories and create inclusive experiences we welcome everyone, especially from under-represented people in our industry whose stories aren’t told often enough.
