Primary responsibility is to create a great experience across our retail websites, .com interactions, and user processes that are consistent with our customer control panel and online products. Work to conceptualize, design, and prototype ideas, and then develop a website that enhances our customers’ experience. Represent the ‘User Experience,’ by translating requirements into defined specifications, and inspire our R&D teams to develop the right projects.

This position is the user experience designer and user advocate, leveraging research methodologies and providing direction to create compelling designs
that balance challenging user needs, business problems, and site performance. Drive the design process from conceptualization through detailed user interface and functionality design, usability review, and implementation. Work with and help build a Rackspace design language complete with a library of widgets, patterns, and stencils. Working closely with Product Marketing, Segment Marketing and Strategy, to translate business goals into usable solutions through the use of concept sketches, wireframes, prototypes, usability studies, and effective communication. Responsible for creating great experiences throughout all projects developed by the Email and Apps division of Rackspace.

Ensure our website meets ongoing customer needs and remains consistent as you constantly improve user experiences. This position requires exceptional leadership, relationship and consensus building skills (both up and down the chain of command), and a proven ability to think strategically in a highly dynamic
environment. Driven self-starter, obsessed with scalability and a capable problem solver. In addition to be being a driver of UX vision and an advocate for UX principles, this role will be hands-on in bringing the vision to life. Work collaboratively with fellow Rackers on the User Experience Design team to
conceptualize, design, and prototype ideas; then inspires fellow members throughout the organization to develop applications and marketing projects that enhance our customers’ experience.


Key Responsibilities

    • Designs the customer-centric vision, strategy, and execution of the user experience design for .com.
    • Works closely with product line designers, support, segment marketing, brand, product marketing and strategy to align the user experience with target audience needs, brand positioning, and revenue objectives.
    • Defines and manages the user research plan and incorporate findings into the design process.
    • Optimizes the website by closely analyzing user engagement performance metrics and testing alternate design solutions, ensuring usability considerations are part of all website decisions.
    • Contributes to thought leadership for information architecture, interaction design, visual design, user experience best practices, user research, and
    • online user behavior.
    • Fosters a creative, positive, efficient, and collaborative team working environment.
    • Collaborates with a group of talented UX designers, visual designers, and user researchers.
    • Works with Product and R&D teams to translate business, marketing, and technical goals into the best solutions for our business using online data, usability findings and market research.
    • Drives the design process from conceptualization through detailed user interface and functionality design, usability review, and implementation.
    • Designs concept sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate design strategies and interaction behaviors.
    • Plans/executes usability tests, document findings, and delivers research-backed concepts to R&D teams for development.
    • Works with development teams to make sure that theworkflow reflects our customer's needs and ensures consistency among projects.
    • Develops expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team.
    • Defines innovative user interfaces and interaction styles which result in improved user experience.
    • Participates in all phases of the product development life cycle.
    • Evangelizes improved design for a superior user experience throughout the organization.
    • Participates in the development of marketing and recruiting campaigns, as well as internal collateral to support our cultural initiatives.

Required Experience

    • 2 - 4 years of experience in the field of role required.
    • Basic knowledge of key products, channels, and platforms, with UX experience in at least two areas such as desktop web, mobile web, and mobile native design.
    • AI/Machine Learning is a plus.
    • Cloud Computing is a plus.
    • Cybersecurity is a plus.
    • DevOps Coding Skills is a plus.
    • Network/Systems Skills is a plus.
