Tesla is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician in Southport, QLD to join their growing Service Team. The role involves performing basic and advanced diagnostics and repairs on all Tesla vehicles (Model S, X, 3, and future models). Responsibilities include efficient repair work, collaborating with internal teams for improvement, using advanced tools and diagnostic equipment, detailed documentation, and assisting in the training of new technicians. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical systems knowledge (low, high voltage, and CAN bus) and significant experience working on EVs and light vehicles. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Must have:
  • Fully qualified Motor Mechanic or Registered Vehicle Technician
  • Minimum 5 years' experience on automotive light vehicles
  • Minimum 3 years' experience on EV drivetrains
  • High-level electrical systems knowledge
  • Proficient in diagnostics and repair
  • Excellent documentation skills

As a full time Tesla Service Technician, you'll be responsible for upholding Tesla's service standards and delivering an exceptional service experience to each and every Tesla customer while preparing to meet the needs of our Model S, Model X, Model 3 customers and beyond.

What You’ll Do
  • Execute basic and advanced diagnostic and repair work on all aspects of Tesla product line.
  • Work independently and as a team to drive maximum service and repair efficiency.
  • Provide feedback to internal Tesla teams to enable continuous improvement of procedures and products.
  • Participate with a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful attitude in an ever-changing dynamic environment.
  • Operate a variety of top-of-the-line hand, power and shop tools.
  • Consistently and concisely detail and document repairs.
  • Enjoy your company supplied laptop to support job diagnostics and further develop your professional capabilities.
  • Inspect and maintain service equipment and request for replacements, as required.
  • Partner with other teams to fulfil wider-business objectives (such as detailing and configuration of vehicles) to ensure smooth delivery of Tesla products to customers.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians, where required.
What You’ll Bring
  • Essential: Fully qualified Motor Mechanic or Registered Vehicle Technician (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a fully qualified Motor Mechanic or Technician.
  • Essential: Must have min 3 years’ experience working on Electric vehicle drivetrain vehicles 
  • Essential: Must have min 5 years’ experience working on automotive light vehicles. 
  • Ideal candidate to have high level of electrical systems including low voltage, high voltage and can bus
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts and tools used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles (includes testing, diagnosis, HVAC service, hydraulic, brakes, testing and repair of electronic systems and modules).
  • Knowledge and experience using diagnostic scan tools, following diagnostics and operating scopes.
  • Experience working with EVs or Hybrid Vehicles a bonus.
  • A creative problem solver who is open to new ideas, approaches and an advocate for the Tesla brand

This position is paying between $80,000 - $85,000 AUD + super per annum.
