The WDI Graphic Fabrication Intern will support the Environmental Graphic Design team in developing signage and show graphics for Disney Theme Parks and Resorts. Responsibilities include providing design support, production coordination, reviewing drawings, offering fabrication support, organizing project scopes, cost estimating, vendor management, and documentation. The internship runs from June 2025 to January 2026 in Orlando, FL, requiring proficiency in foam core assembly, soldering, woodworking, basic electronics, and design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD).
Must have:
  • Time management (multiple projects)
  • Foam core assembly, soldering, woodshop skills
  • Basic electronics knowledge
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • 3D software (SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD)
  • Drafting principles & techniques
  • Detailing themed environmental graphics
  • Valid Driver's License
Good to have:
  • 1+ years design experience or internship
  • Familiarity with environmental graphic design and sign construction
  • Knowledge of architecture, interior design, and landscape design

What You Will Do

We are looking for a Graphic Fabrication Intern to work within the department responsible for developing signage and show graphics that help tell the stories in Disney Theme Parks and Resorts worldwide. As an intern on the team, you will have the opportunity to…

  • Provide design support and production coordination for Environmental Graphic Design projects
  • Review drawings and provide feedback
  • Provide fabrication support for the Imagineering graphics project team
  • Organize and develop a scope of work in support of hard cost budget and schedule for projects of limited complexity and size
  • Support the Environmental Graphic Signage cost estimating process through collection of data for review
  • Manage vendors on small scaled projects
  • Provide documentation throughout the design process

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to manage time while working on multiple projects
  • Proficiency in foam core assembly, soldering, and woodshop skills
  • Basic electronics knowledge
  • Experience with Creative Suite 6 or digital illustration tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, 3D software knowledge of Sketch-up, Rhino or Auto Cad and MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of specific application of drafting principles and techniques as applied to environmental graphics construction documentation
  • Proven ability to detail themed environmental graphics for contract documentation
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in a design practice, or a professional internship
  • Familiarity with Environmental Graphic design, sign construction techniques, and related areas including architecture, interior design and landscape design

Education

Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in Architecture, Industrial Design or Product Design

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship 
  • Be at least 18 years of age 
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization 
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work 
  • Must be fully available for the duration of the internship

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
