Job Summary

Morningstar Credit empowers credit market decision makers with tools and information. We are seeking an analyst to join our high-performing team which writes periodic performance reports on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions and their underlying loans and properties. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical and writing skills who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. You’ll be joining a very experienced team, yet one that is very entrepreneurial, so the ability to take initiative and be inquisitive is a key to long-term success in the role.

Must Have

  • Monitor performance of CMBS transactions through monthly monitoring of underlying collateral.
  • Provide monthly qualitative and quantitative updates to investors through the Analytics platform.
  • Derive values on a regular basis for all large loans, distressed assets and any properties showing a material change in credit metrics from original assumptions.
  • Contribute to ongoing research efforts including daily news blasts and scheduled long-form pieces.
  • Visit properties and convey on-the-ground observations to appropriate parties.
  • Regularly speak with clients, potential clients and media.
  • 0-2 years of work experience in commercial real estate or CMBS.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or real estate.
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaborate across the team as necessary.
  • Deep interest in commercial real estate.
  • General intellectual curiosity.

We are seeking an analyst to join our high-performing team which writes periodic performance reports on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions and their underlying loans and properties. Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of CMBS transactions through monthly monitoring of underlying collateral.
  • Provide monthly qualitative and quantitative updates to investors through the Analytics platform Qualitative updates include borrower research, tenant news, market color and reviewing servicer commentary. Quantitative updates include changes in cash flow and valuations
  • Derive values on a regular basis for all large loans, distressed assets and any properties showing a material change in credit metrics from original assumptions
  • Contribute to ongoing research efforts including daily news blasts and scheduled long-form pieces
  • Visit properties and convey on-the-ground observations to appropriate parties
  • Regularly speak with clients, potential clients and media

Key Job Requirements

  • 0-2 years of work experience in commercial real estate or CMBS
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or real estate
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaborate across the team as necessary
  • Deep interest in commercial real estate
  • General intellectual curiosity
  • Experience with AI is a plus

Total Cash Compensation Range

$71,500.00 - 96,000.00 USD Annual

Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
