This Animator role at Aardman involves working on the stop-frame feature film 'Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom'. The successful candidate will realize the Director's vision by creating animated character performances, animating assigned shots, and handling varying complexities. Key responsibilities include effective communication with the director and production team, maintaining character models through sculpting and prepping puppets, and ensuring shots align with the schedule. The role requires a proven track record in animation, comfort with direct shooting, and a good understanding of stop-frame processes and Dragonframe.
Must have:

  • Minimum two years professional animating experience.
  • Good understanding of stop frame studio processes.
  • Proficiency in Dragonframe.

About The Role

Start Date: November 2025 to May 2026

Full time: 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

Contract Fixed Term

We are looking for an Animator to work on our exciting stop frame feature film: Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom. We want this film to punch well above it’s weight in terms of comedy, story and spooky spectacle. As such we are looking for animators with a proven track record working at series pace and an ability to deliver features quality performance. Also to be comfortable going straight for shots without rehearsals or blocks.

The main purpose for this role is to realise the Director's vision and create the performance of the animated characters on the production. You will animate on assigned shots according to the brief set by the director and be able to competently animate a range of different shots of varying complexity.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with the director while being briefed and take relevant performance notes. This will also involve communicating quickly and effectively with the Animation Supervisor and Production team about any changes to your shots that may impact the schedule.

You will have good sculpting skills and the ability to keep characters on model; this will include cleaning and prepping puppets ready for shooting.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of two year’s professional animating experience. You will also have a good understanding of stop frame studio working processes and Dragonframe.
