The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth by promoting Nordson EFD's product portfolio, understanding customer needs, and providing application solutions. Key responsibilities include developing and executing territory plans, leading a sales team, managing customer relationships, and identifying new sales opportunities. The role requires preparing quotes, negotiating sales, participating in trade shows, and providing detailed sales forecasts. The ideal candidate will have experience in field sales, possess strong communication and negotiation skills, and be proficient in relevant software.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of field sales experience in B2B capital equipment sales
  • Fluent in French, German, and English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills
Good to have:
  • Experience in watch, precision mechanics, automation or medical device industries
  • Good analytical skills to deal with technical queries and applications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and SAP

The main task of the Sales Manager is to generate sustainable, predictable revenue growth using Nordson EFD’s product portfolio to either serve a specific customer need and/or create the need based on Nordson’ extensive application knowledge in the given Area.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed territory plan and review it quarterly with Sales Director;
  • Lead a small team to maximize sales in the region;
  • Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services, respond to more complex customer application enquiries.
  • Prepare system application Offers and Quotes, record, maintain data and trace them properly in C4C CRM following company Standard Work processes as published and updated from time to time;
  • Solution-based selling capabilities, from developing customer need to project follow-up and delivery;
  • Negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority and conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets;
  • Maintain customer relationship throughout the life of the project(s) to ensure timely delivery, on budget and on specification;
  • Identify, research and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business;
  • Promote very actively Nordson EFD brand name, complete product portfolio and application solutions on the given Area in order to achieve yearly active customer basis growth with additional revenue growth in cooperation with Marketing Department of Nordson EFD;
  • Report sales leads, customer feedback and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the organization, including peer sales managers responsible for a different product lines,
  • Establish order entry forecasts to discuss with management, prioritize and  schedule own activities so that targets are met;
  • Following Nordson EFD’s Sales Process, provide detailed inputs for bi-weekly order entry forecast of given Area and monthly Project Pipeline Reporting by Active opportunities / customer  (by 1st working day of each month) indicating details of application, due dates and sales stages (10%, 30%, 50%, 70%,90%) with comments to move forward and close these projects successfully;
  • Participate and visit Trade shows in behalf of the company, support all Marketing activities focused on the given Area of sales or where required by the company, organize and manage local customer events, presentations and roadshows;
  • Using for local trials and demonstrations all tailgate and demo products received from the company, being able to present them independently in front of customers at a level required by the company;
  • Work with accounts receivable to make sure that agreed credit terms are met;

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • Proper Education enabling to perform the job completely and thoroughly (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Automotive, Material Science or Engineering, General Technical Education, Sales, Marketing or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent field sales experience in a business to business, preferably capital sales equipment with proven track record of owning the sales of a large customer list (at least 100 customers) and developing and growing those accounts and those accounts sales. Experience in the watch, precision mechanics, automation or medical device industries a major plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills;
  • Fluent French, German and English both written and spoken a must;
  • Good analytical skills, able to deal with technical queries and applications;
  • Strategic thinking and skills to set & perform long-term actions;
  • Able to set and follow priorities;
  • Able to manage work independently oriented on results;
  • Independently set-up and perform tests with our products and the customers medium and substrate in our Swiss laboratory
  • Flexible in working actions and time management;
  • Able to work with people at all organizational levels;
  • Winning customer trust through being able to confidently and knowledgably present our products and discuss applications
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook), SAP, Business Explorer, Work Day, BW and C4C;
  • Team player approach and behavior, including covering for other sales colleagues Switzerland-wide during holiday periods;
  • Based in the Area;
