We’re looking for Art Directors, at multiple levels, with experience in designing immersive worlds centered around music, and all the things that make those worlds exciting and engaging. For this project, what YOU will design will be seen by many millions of people and kickstart an experience not soon to be outdone. That means we need someone passionate about crafting beautifully-imagined interactive spaces in real-time engines, complete with musical headliners of the highest order. You’ll be working with a talented team of clever people who have a passion for world-building who want to be creatively inspired, artistically-nurtured, and have their timecards approved by you. (Just kidding, someone else will handle that paperwork.) You’re an Art Director, and we need you directing Art. And Artists.
Magnopus's studio postings are made in advance of work anticipated to be awarded. Hires cannot be made until contracts are awarded. In some instances, contracts may not be awarded which could delay or preempt the interview process. We appreciate your patience.
Responsibilities
Establish a visual style that appropriately complements and enhances the experience design set by the creative team
Create beautiful moments of visual surprise and delight, and nurture them through the production process until they exist in the real world and run in real time
Unify the environments, characters, user interfaces, and anything else that can be seen with human eyes into a style that feels fresh but not radical, polished but not boring, and always unique.
Inspire and motivate art teams to deliver their best work and provide effective and constructive feedback, with creative solutions to the inevitable challenges that will arise
Communicate and collaborate with multiple teams such as engineering and production to guide visual progress from beginning to end and deliver visuals you’ll be proud to tell people about when you’re old(er)
Work closely with production-types to ensure schedules and plans meet business and project needs by incorporating frequent use of words like “synergy” and “alignment”
Requirements
Strong experience in visual and communication design principles
Love of music, musical events (live and virtual), musical culture, and an appreciation for the zeitgeist surrounding specific musical artists.
Portfolio that demonstrates a keen eye for artistic and technical direction
Proven experience directing and supporting artists across multiple art disciplines
At least 10 years of experience in computer-generated art
Expert at using 3D Art tools such as Maya, ZBrush, 3ds MAX, Vray, Substance Designer/Painter or 3D Coat
Proficiency in: physically based rendering, lighting, shading, environment and character design, FX, performance analysis, and graphics content optimization
Experience working in Unreal game engine
Minimum of 1 large title shipped on either PC or Console (not just mobile), from concept to final
Outstanding communication skills and ability to lead by example
