Job Summary
OKX is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Licensing to join their fast-growing global cryptocurrency exchange. This role reports to the Head of Global Licensing and involves managing the regulatory licensing process in specific jurisdictions, obtaining key licenses, and working with internal stakeholders and external counsel. The position requires conducting legal research on global crypto laws and regulations, evaluating products and services, and advising on regional legal and regulatory strategies. Key responsibilities include drafting and revising application materials, communicating with regulators, and collaborating with product and business development teams. The role also involves assisting with civil or litigation matters and managing additional legal requests, providing advice on legal concepts and risk with strategic business goals in mind. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and experience in the fast-paced crypto and fintech industry.
Must Have
- Active US state bar membership (CA or NY preferred)
- 6+ years of regulatory experience
- Experience managing projects on expedited timelines
- Enthusiasm for blockchain technology
- Comfortable working independently

Who We Are
About the Opportunity
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Work within the regulatory licensing process in specific jurisdictions and assist in obtaining key licenses.
- Manage external counsel and internal stakeholders
- Conduct legal research into global laws and regulations applicable to the crypto industry with the assistance of outside counsel. Evaluate the products and services offered by OKX with respect to those laws and provide legal advice on a path forward.
- Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of the business's regional strategy.
- Draft and revise application materials in collaboration with the Global Licensing Team and other business teams.
- Meet and communicate with regulators and other governmental bodies related to the company’s licensing efforts.
- Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals.
- Assist with civil or litigation or regulatory matters and supervise outside counsel as needed.
- Manage additional legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.
What We Look For In You:
- Active membership with a US state bar (CA or NY preferred), or equivalent.
- 6+ years of regulatory experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services-related industry or other firmly-regulated space.
- Experience managing and driving projects to completion on expedited timelines. Must be highly-driven, proactive, responsive and precise.
- Enthusiastic about blockchain technology and have an understanding of the relevant legal/regulatory landscape.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams.
- Project management experience with superior organizational skills.
