PwC Indonesia's Energy Transition Advisory team is seeking an Associate – Manager to help clients unlock the business, social, and environmental impact of Indonesia’s energy transition. Responsibilities include designing energy transition plans, assessing investment requirements, developing roadmaps for energy storage, designing policy reforms for the power sector, and assessing the commercial and financial viability of transitioning power fleets. The role involves working on complex problems, drawing on global expertise, and driving value creation for clients and the economy. The ideal candidate should have experience in energy transition, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and related areas. They must be a self-starter, fast learner, and possess strong project management skills and analytical skills.

PwC Indonesia’s Energy Transition Advisory team works as a community of solvers to help clients unlock the business, social and environmental impact of Indonesia’s energy transition. Our practice is working on complex problems in Indonesia’s energy transition, across the public and private sector. We draw on our global network for expertise as required and localise it through our Indonesian experts to address country nuances to solve Indonesia’s challenges in planning and implementing the energy transition. A sample of the kind of problems you’ll be solving:  

  • Designing an energy transition plan for a major integrated energy player to attract investment for its business diversification strategy 

  • Assessing investment requirements, financing capacity of utility balance sheet, fiscal impact on GoI APBN of JETP transition pathway under BAU and policy reforms (energy pricing, efficient procurement) scenarios  

  • Developing of a roadmap for a large-scale energy storage systems at national level and define recommendations for the enabling financial and regulatory interventions  

  • Designing a policy reform basket for the Indonesian power sector to accelerate the development of renewable energy generation and ensuring a just transition  

  • Assessing commercial and financial viability of transitioning captive power fleet to gas/renewable energy including applicability of transition credits and impact of PTBAE-PU  

  • Defining and quantifying financial and fiscal impacts of accelerated retirement of coal fired power plants  

  • Defining economic (GDP, green jobs, tax) and trade (carbon walls) impact of transitioning captive fleet to gas/renewable energy  

  • Conducting feasibility assessment of green hydrogen pilot and roadmap for scale up to address domestic and export demand  

  • Assessing the EV and battery market size including the design of an EV charging services and network 

 

Candidate Profile:  

Experience (Yrs, min)  

 Associate (1-3 years); Senior Associate (3-5 years); Manager (5-8 years) 

Experience (Areas)  

Energy Transition, Energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, energy storage, EV, batteries, alternative fuels (hydrogen, methanol, SAF), GHG, mining (critical minerals), oil, gas,   

Functional expertise 

Business and governance frameworks, economic regulation of utilities, market structures, business models, energy pricing/tariff setting, carbon pricing, sustainable financing, economic & social impact assessment and safeguards, green jobs & up/re-skilling, GHG emissions measurement & monitoring  

Education  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Finance  

  • Master’s degree or higher in any of these, and MBA highly valued  

Others  

  • Self-starter, fast learner, strong sense of accountability, able to work independently on delegated tasks and deliver expected quality within deadlines  

  • Able to work collaboratively in cross-functional and cross-organisational teams  

  • Strong project management skills  

  • Diligence and attention to detail 

  • Sharp analytical and strategic thinking skills  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  

  • Commercial sense, especially for Manager & above  

  • MS Office literacy (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), GIS, data analytics (e.g. Power BI and Alteryx), LLM and other relevant expertise will be an asset  

  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
