As an Audio Hardware Applications Engineer at Cirrus Logic, you will play a crucial role in supporting boosted audio amplifier products. Your responsibilities include providing direct engineering support to customers, reviewing PCB schematics and layouts, conducting data collection and circuit analysis, leading the design of customer development boards, developing customer collateral, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will also participate in product promotion and technical trainings. The role requires a strong sense of ownership and urgency to autonomously handle and prioritize tasks.

Must have:

BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred, with 5+ years experience
Experience with audio amplifiers and power electronics
Experience debugging customer system level issues
Experience with circuit board schematic and layout design
Experience with audio analysis equipment
Strong communication skills
Understanding of industry interface standards like I2C, SPI

Good to have:

Understand audio signal processing algorithms
Experience with audio analysis software (MATLAB, Excel)
Experience working with cross functional teams
Experience with PC and mobile markets
Proficient in writing MATLAB and Python scripts
Extensive experience debugging hardware and software issues

Job Details

Cirrus Logic's Mixed Signal Product Division is seeking an experienced Hardware Applications Engineer to join our high performance team of engineers supporting our boosted audio amplifier products. You will play a key role in getting design wins in laptops, mobile products, and more.

Responsibilities

Win and maintain customer account by providing direct engineering support for Cirrus Logic customers and field application engineers
Support the design and review of customers PCB schematics and layouts
Execute customer-application focused data collection and circuit analysis
Lead the design of the customer development boards required for the productization of new audio amplifier products
Develop customer collateral such as application notes and tech reports
Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross functional teams around the world to support customer requests. This includes working with IC Design engineers, Systems engineers, Validation engineers, Test Engineers, Software engineers, and others
Partner with Marketing and Field teams to promote new products during customer visits and conferences
Lead customer and field team technical trainings
Autonomously handle and prioritize tasks with strong sense of ownership and high sense of urgency

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred, with 5+ years experience in the acoustic industry
Experience with audio amplifiers and power electronics
Proven experience debugging customer system level issues
Experience with circuit board schematic and layout design
Strong hands-on experience analyzing and evaluating audio products with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, Audio Precision analyzers, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
Strong ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
Proven experience debugging customer issues
Demonstrated aptitude in understanding of various industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, I2S or high speed control/data bus
Familiarity with scripting/programming language such as Python or similar
Effective interpersonal skills
