Welcome to Ability Action Australia!

We are one of the largest providers to the NDIS, supporting over 10,000 participants every year with the care they need, when and where it is needed. We have a multi-disciplinary team approach, building a quality support service around the needs and goals of our participants and their family.

Help us help others with life changing support that can improve their independence, access, development, health and wellbeing, and function.

We are expanding our Behaviour Support team and would love to welcome experienced and dynamic Behaviour Support Practitioners eager to be part of a multidisciplinary team and make a difference. You’ll bring expertise, maturity and strong time management and organisational skills to the role.

Successful candidates will provide supports to cover NDIS participants living in the following areas (depending on where you live) Tamworth, Watsons Creek, Upper Manilla, Gunnedah, Wallabadah & surrounding areas.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a wider multidisciplinary team who support each other's challenges and wins. No two days are ever the same! You might find us in daycare centres, in schools and homes, and even on outreach trips to Gunnedah and surrounds – we might even bump into you on one of our monthly Wellness Walks down by the river - we love supporting our regional area!

You will support vulnerable members of the community by acting as an advocate and role model. On a daily basis, you will be...

  • Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths
  • Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners

As you support many, we support you!  We offer

  • Work flexibility – From 24 hours a week to full time, you select the hours and days that work best for you as an individual.
  • Excellent remuneration – Industry leading salary + salary packaging + car allowance + laptop + smartphone + purchased leave + bonus opportunties.
  • True work-life balance – The autonomy of setting your calendar, your way. Combine the convenience of working from home with time at our supportive hubs.
  • Career progression – Access to ongoing training tailored to your interests and long-term goals combined with professional development opportunities through Ability Action Australia and our parent company, MedHealth.
  • Continuous Professional Development – A generous CPD allowance and paid leave days to complete this.
  • Passionate and positive culture – Be part of a purpose-driven team that believes in your development and in making a difference.

To be considered suitable you will have:

  • Current suitability - confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - at the Core or Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Report writing experience
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising other Behaviour Support Practitioners
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
