Job Description

We are seeking a Brake Design Engineer for Chassis to develop braking technologies and components in production vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess a can-do attitude, approach work with vigor, and demonstrate excellence in their field. Responsibilities include designing and developing foundation brake components from concept to production, establishing requirements, managing validation activities, collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers, coordinating virtual engineering and physical validation, and managing multiple complex projects. The role requires strong attention to detail and teamwork for efficient system integration.
Must have:
  • Design foundation brake components from concept to production
  • Establish component requirements and manage validation
  • Design with attention to detail at system/component level
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation
  • Manage multiple complex projects
  • BS/BEng or MS/MEng in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years automotive industry experience, focus on braking system design
  • Proven 3D CAD skills
  • Ability to work full remotely
Good to have:
  • Hands-on problem solving
  • Experience with Brake caliper, rotor, shield, hoses, wiring harness
  • Proficiency with CATIA V6 and 3DX PLM tools
  • Project Management and systematic technical problem solving
  • Knowledge of NVH principles
  • Ability to run CAE analysis tools
  • Driven-vehicle attributes development experience
  • Understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory
  • Experience in prototype assembly
  • Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection
  • Experience in design release, change management and project management
  • Ability to Travel domestically and internationally

As a Brakes Design Engineer for Chassis, you will help develop braking technologies and components in production vehicles. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop foundation brake components from initial concept to production
  • Establish requirements for components based on desired vehicle attributes and manage Validation activities.
  • Design with excellence at system and component level, with great attention to every detail
  • Work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to integrate multiple systems in the most efficient way possible
  • Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs
  • Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BEng or MS/MEng in a relevant Engineering/Physics/Mathematics discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of automotive industry experience, focus on braking system design
  • Ability to work full remotely while reporting to teams based in Newark, California.
  • Proven experience taking brake components from concept to production
  • Proven 3D CAD skills
  • Experience in prototype assembly
  • Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection
  • Experience in design release, change management and project management
  • Ability to Travel domestically and internationally

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability of hands-on problem solving
  • Experience with Brake caliper, Brake rotor, Brake shield , Wheel end hoses and wiring harness
  • Experience and proficiency with CATIA V6 and 3DX PLM tools
  • Experience with Project Management and systematic Technical Problems solving
  • Knowledge of NVH principles
  • Ability to run CAE analysis tools
  • Driven-vehicle attributes development experience
  • Experience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory

 

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
