Job Description

As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Temporal, you will launch your sales career in a fast-growing tech company. You will connect with potential customers, generate leads, and build strong pipelines for the sales team. This entry-level role involves proactively prospecting, qualifying leads, and setting appointments. You will also leverage sales techniques, maintain outbound activity, collaborate with the Sales Team, and contribute to Temporal’s mission. Additionally, you'll be the architect of a growing team, defining and iterating on processes.
Must have:
  • 1 to 2+ years of experience in prospecting roles.
  • Excellent communication skills in person, phone and writing
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts
  • Proficient PC, Spreadsheet, Salesforce.com, and Google Docs skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and be self-motivated
  • Prior track record of achievement in positions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proactive, independent thinker with high energy/positive attitude.

Summary

Are you eager to launch your sales career in a fast-growing, innovative tech company? Temporal is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Business Development Representatives (BDRs) to join our team in San Francisco and New York. As a BDR, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving growth by connecting with potential customers, generating leads, and building strong pipelines for our sales team. 

This is an entry level role designed for ambitious self-starters who are passionate about technology, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are excited to develop their careers in sales. With a dedicated training program and clear growth path, you’ll have the support and tools to become a standout sales professional while contributing to Temporal’s mission of redefining application development.

What you'll do

  • Proactively outbound prospecting and lead activity management in an effort to qualify and market Temporal to potential customers.
  • Discover opportunities from leads and set appointments from those leads. 
  • Use of strong selling and influencing skills to set up qualified appointments. 
  • Understand the Temporal OSS and Cloud solutions enough to provide high level introduction. 
  • Leverage taught sales techniques to maximize customer interactions. 
  • Log, track, and maintain outbound activity. 
  • Work closely with the Sales Team and attend customer meetings as required. 
  • Be the architect of a growing team, defining and iterating on processes.

What you'll need

  • 1 to 2+ years of experience in prospecting roles.
  • Excellent in-person, phone, and written customer communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make formal and informal presentations to staff and clients.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.
  • Proficient PC, Spreadsheet, Salesforce.com, and Google Docs skills required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and be self-motivated
  • Prior track record of achievement in positions with accountability.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proactive, independent thinker with high energy/positive attitude. 

Compensation

  • The estimated pay range for this role is $100,000 OTE
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal’s equity plan.
Compensation ranges reflect salary and commission compensation (when applicable) across several geographic markets. Employment offers carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, knowledge, expertise, skillset, market location, and job level assessed during the interview process.
