Job Description

Convai is seeking a talented Character Animator to join our innovative team, focusing on creating dynamic animations for characters and objects within the Unreal Engine environment. The candidate will be proficient in animating within Unreal's Sequencer, using external animation software, and skilled in retargeting animations, particularly MetaHumans. They should have expertise in motion capture processing and real-time animation systems. The role involves animating characters and objects, retargeting animations, and utilizing tools like Live Link. The candidate will work to create compelling characters in virtual world environments, contributing to a future where interacting with AI characters is seamless.
Must have:
  • Animate characters and objects in Unreal Engine using tools like Sequencer.
  • Create and import animations using external software like Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
  • Retarget animations to different skeletons, especially MetaHumans.
  • Process and fix motion capture animations.
  • Operate Live Link and MetaHuman Animator.
Good to have:
  • Develop physical motion animations using software like Cascadeur.
  • Utilize iClone for additional animation solutions.
  • Implement and modify Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints and rig control mechanisms.

We are seeking a talented Character Animator to join our innovative team, focusing on creating dynamic animations for characters and objects within the Unreal Engine environment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in animating within Unreal's Sequencer, using external animation software like Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, and skilled in retargeting animations to different skeletons, particularly MetaHumans. Expertise in motion capture processing and real-time animation systems like Live Link. Bonus skills include experience with iClone, Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints, and rig control.


Key Responsibilities
  • Animate characters and objects Inside Unreal using tools like Sequencer.
  • Animate characters and objects in external software (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and import them into Unreal.
  • Retarget animations to different skeletons, focusing on MetaHumans.
  • Process and fix motion capture animations.
  • Operate Live Link and MetaHuman Animator for real-time performance and animation.
  • Bonus: Develop physical motion animations using software like Cascadeur.
  • Bonus: Utilize iClone for additional animation solutions.
  • Bonus: Implement and modify Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints and rig control mechanisms.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in character animation within Unreal Engine and familiarity with Sequencer.
  • Proficient in using Maya, or 3ds Max, or Blender for creating and importing animations.
  • Expertise in retargeting animations, especially for MetaHumans.
  • Experience in fixing and processing motion capture animations.
  • Skilled in the use of Live Link and MetaHuman Animator.
  • Bonus: Experience in Motion Builder, iClone, and Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints.
  • Demonstrable portfolio showcasing animations in Unreal and/or other platforms.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
