Job Description

The Clinical Sales Specialist (CSS) will drive Illumina's business growth and strengthen partnerships with clinical customers across São Paulo, Brazil. Collaborating with Territory Account Managers, the CSS will generate demand, communicate the value of genomics to diverse stakeholders, and align customer objectives with Illumina's technology adoption. Responsibilities include developing territory plans, analyzing market trends, delivering sales presentations, and maintaining customer relationships.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with TAMs to develop high-value, long-term customer accounts.
  • Support DSM and TAMs in creating customized territory plans.
  • Understand clinical and economic trends in healthcare segments.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and position Illumina solutions.
  • Share technical and product knowledge with customers and TAMs.
  • Partner with TAMs for sales, technical, and applications support.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations in Portuguese and English.
  • Support new technology and product introductions.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer information in CRM.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
  • Interpret and share insights from scientific publications.
  • Represent Illumina at trade shows and scientific events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within customer organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in molecular diagnostics sales.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Sales Specialist (CSS) will be responsible for supporting Illumina’s continuous business growth and strengthening partnerships with clinical customers across the entire state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Working closely with the Territory Account Managers (TAMs), the CSS will coordinate and execute strategies to communicate the value of genomics to diverse stakeholders in clinical organizations. This includes generating demand at the laboratory/hospital level and demonstrating value to healthcare system executives. The CSS will contribute to aligning customer objectives with the successful adoption of Illumina’s current and future technologies and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with TAMs to develop high-value, long-term customer accounts through relationship-based sales techniques.
  • Support the District Sales Manager (DSM) and TAMs in creating customized territory plans.
  • Understand the clinical and economic trends that influence decision-making across various healthcare segments.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and support the implementation of strategies to effectively position Illumina solutions.
  • Share technical and product knowledge with customers and TAMs to facilitate sales.
  • Partner with TAMs to plan and organize activities, ensuring effective sales support, technical assistance, and applications support.
  • Prepare and deliver impactful sales presentations in both Portuguese and English; participate in customer demonstrations and training sessions.
  • Support the introduction of new technology platforms and products into key accounts, ensuring clear information flow during pre-commercial phases.
  • Provide regular feedback to management on account status and key initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer information in Illumina’s CRM and monitor purchasing activities.
  • Use the CRM system to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
  • Interpret and share relevant insights from scientific publications on sequencing with the team and customers.
  • Represent Illumina at trade shows, congresses, workshops, and scientific events; frequent travel (approximately 50% of the time) will be required.
  • Serve as a central communication point to ensure a clear and efficient information flow between Illumina and its customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels within customer organizations.

Preferred Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field; a postgraduate degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in molecular diagnostics sales or a related field.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare sector, trends, and opportunities.
  • Technical background in molecular biology or genomics (preferred).
  • Proven ability to develop and expand key accounts.
  • Excellent listening, organizational, negotiation, and time management skills.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and consistently ready to support colleagues and customers.
  • Dynamic, adaptable, and results-oriented professional.
