Job Description

As a Cloud & IT Systems Engineer at mod.io, you will build, optimize, and maintain cloud and on-premises mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. You will support a dynamic, technology-focused team and business, from small tasks to project-level initiatives. mod.io empowers developers and publishers to foster vibrant modding ecosystems and facilitate in-game marketplaces for paid UGC, backed by leading investors like Tencent and LEGO.
Must have:
  • Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS/Azure).
  • Manage and enhance developer environments, tools, and workflows.
  • Assist supporting all internal IT systems, including networking, hardware, software, asset management, and user support.
  • Contribute to and manage information security strategy.
  • Support mod.io's ISO 27001 compliance program.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and updates using AWS CloudFormation templates.
  • Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly test comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product, and other departments.
  • 2+ years experience with scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, JSON, YAML.
  • 2+ years experience with AWS Well Architected Framework, and AWS technologies.
  • 2+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code (eg Terraform, Cloudformation, Bicep).
  • Experience with AWS networking services and concepts.
  • Experience with containers including Docker/ECS.
  • Experience with CI/CD/build automation tools.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud architecture.
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodologies.
Good to have:
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
  • Experience with ClickUp or similar project management tools
  • Experience with PagerDuty or similar alerting/reporting tools
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform & Google Suite
  • Familiarity with security best practices, and security/compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001
  • A passion for video games and an understanding of the games industry

Your purpose (how you help mod.io)

As a Cloud & IT Systems Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining our cloud and on-premises mission-critical systems. You’ll ensure high availability, scalability, and performance. You will support our dynamic, technology focused team and business to thrive, from the smallest task to project level tasks. This is a permanent, full-time Hybrid role headquartered in our Melbourne, Prahran office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS/Azure). Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, security & compliance and cost-efficiency. Monitor application and infrastructure health using observability tools (e.g. Grafana).
  • Developer Environment & Tooling: Manage and enhance the developer environments, tools, and workflows to ensure maximum productivity and security for our engineering teams. Your first priority will be performance for engineers, then how to make that as safe and secure as possible.
  • IT Systems & Operations: Assist supporting all internal IT systems, including networking, hardware, software, asset management, and user support. Ensure smooth and secure operations for all employees.
  • Information Security & Governance: Contribute to, and manage our information security strategy. This includes vulnerability management, incident response, access control, data protection, business continuity and security awareness.
  • Compliance: Support mod.io's ISO 27001 compliance program. This includes maintaining the Information Security Management System (ISMS), conducting regular internal audits, managing external audits, and ensuring continuous adherence to the standard's requirements.
  • Automation and DevOps: Automate infrastructure provisioning and updates using AWS CloudFormation templates. Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Develop, implement, and regularly test comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical systems and data.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Product, and other departments to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and align infrastructure and security initiatives with business goals.

What You Need To Be Successful

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2+ years experience with scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, JSON, YAML etc
