Job Description

Coordinate, monitor, and support the design, development, and execution of projects related to coastal ecosystem restoration, particularly mangroves. This role also involves intervening in processes linked to public policy, community enterprise development, and activities around the Mexican Alliance for Ecosystem Restoration (AMERE). Responsibilities include project coordination, strategic planning, stakeholder articulation, and supporting policy advocacy.
Must have:
  • Degree in environmental engineering, biology, environmental sciences, environmental economics, International Relations or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in related projects
  • Existing work permit for Mexico at the time of application
  • Verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in Office suite and similar
  • Experience in writing technical reports, scientific articles, and data analysis
  • Advanced level of English (oral and written)
Good to have:
  • Desirable experience in public policy processes, stakeholder management, and/or community enterprise development
  • Experience in preparing reports, technical proposals, and dissemination materials

JOB DESCRIPTION

COASTAL ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION COORDINATION

LEVEL: 3

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 8 days per month in the office. It can be based in our WRI Mexico office. An existing work permit for Mexico is required at the time of application, as WRI cannot sponsor any work visas for this position.

Objective:

Coordinate, monitor, and support the design, development, and execution of projects related to coastal ecosystem restoration, particularly mangroves, as well as intervene in processes linked to public policy, community enterprise development, and activities around the Mexican Alliance for Ecosystem Restoration, AMERE.

Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination and monitoring
  • Coordinate technical, logistical, and administrative activities of projects related to coastal ecosystem restoration.
  • Closely monitor project status and generate progress, results, and impact reports.
  • Collaborate in the strategic planning and execution of mangrove restoration and conservation projects.
  • Support for AMERE
  • Actively participate in AMERE meetings, working groups, and processes.
  • Support the articulation of stakeholders and the construction of common agendas for coastal ecosystem restoration.
  • Systematize information and progress derived from AMERE to integrate them into institutional projects and reports.
  • Project development and management
  • Collaborate in the identification and formulation of new initiatives related to mangroves, public policy, and community enterprises.
  • Support in the preparation of technical and financial proposals, as well as in the design of impact and results indicators.
  • Contribute to information analysis and the generation of strategic inputs for decision-making.
  • Support in strengthening and developing community enterprises related to coastal ecosystems.
  • Generate inputs and monitor advocacy processes in public policies that favor mangrove restoration and conservation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to integrate community and climate perspectives into public policy proposals.
  • Participate in the organization of events, workshops, and working meetings related to restoration, public policy, and community enterprises.
  • Monitor the creation and dissemination of communication materials.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in environmental engineering, biology, environmental sciences, environmental economics, International Relations or related fields
  • Experience: Minimum
  • 3 years of experience in related projects.
  • Desirable experience in public policy processes, stakeholder management, and/or community enterprise development.
  • Experience in preparing reports, technical proposals, and dissemination materials.
  • Languages: Verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Availability to travel:
  • Flexibility to travel nationally and occasionally internationally

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Office suite and similar
  • Experience in writing technical reports, scientific articles, and data analysis.
  • Advanced level of English (oral and written)
