Job Description

AECOM is seeking Construction Inspectors for the US Army Corps of Engineers at Pituffik Space Base in Greenland. This role involves residing and working on-site for approximately 10-12 months, with return trips to the United States every two months for two weeks off. The primary responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications for accuracy and constructability, conducting field inspections, and reporting on work performed. The candidate will interact with clients and contractors, requiring excellent communication skills and a professional presentation. Responsibilities also include ensuring contractor compliance with contract requirements, evaluating inspection and testing procedures, documenting compliance with standards, maintaining field observation records, participating in technical submittal reviews, documenting observations and discrepancies, attending progress meetings, performing infrastructure walk-throughs, resolving conflicts, providing progress photographs, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and building codes.
Must have:
  • HS + 10 years related experience or AA/AS + 8 years related experience
  • Ability to reside and work on-site for 10-12 months
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Professional presentation
Good to have:
  • More than 6 years experience as a construction project inspector on large DoD projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Experience using RMS
  • Knowledge of USACE Three Phase Inspection Process
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1 Safety Requirements
  • CQM Certification

Job Description

AECOM has a need for Construction Inspectors for US Army Corps of Engineers at the Pituffik Space Base in Greenland. This assignment will be located in at Base Name in Greenland.  Candidates need to be able and willing to reside and work on-site for an expected duration of 10-12 months, with travel back to the United States approximately every two months for 2 weeks time-off. Preferred qualifications include more than 6 years of experience as a construction project inspector on large complex multimillion dollar DoD construction projects. Job responsibilities will include reviewing and interpreting plans and specifications for completeness, accuracy, and constructability. Field construction inspection and reporting will comprise the majority of the work. Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Compensation includes a negotiable monthly allowance based on experience and qualifications. We will also cover travel expenses for regular visits to the United States. This position offers an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth. 

This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:   

  • Provide oversight of the contractor to ensure compliance with contract requirements and standards. 
  • Evaluation of level of inspection, testing procedures and results, documentation of deficiency correction, etc. in accordance with the USACE 3-Phase inspection program.
  • Document compliance to construction standards and specifications.
  • Complete and maintain records of field observations, including daily reports outlining the work performed, as well as field measurements and computations.
  • Participate in technical review of submittals and development plans to ensure conformity to USACE standards and specifications.
  • Document observations and inspections of construction including discrepancy notices for non-compliant items.
  • Complete and maintain records of field observations, including daily reports outlining the work performed, as well as field measurements and computations.
  • Attend and participate in construction progress meeting.
  • Perform infrastructure walk through and develop punch lists as required.
  • Work to resolve conflicts with construction installation.
  • Provide construction photographs as required to document progress and problem areas.
  • Ensure that safety and USACE regulations and building codes were considered and followed during the construction of utility equipment.
  • Attend contractor's weekly project meetings.
  • Participate in tests, demonstrations, and field instructions with the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • HS + 10 years of related experience or AA/AS (US) + 8 years of related experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 8 years of related experience

Preferred Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as a construction project inspector on large complex multimillion dollar DoD construction projects,
  • experience using Microsoft Office and experience using RMS.
  • Knowledge of the USACE Three Phase Inspection Process
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1 Safety Requirements
  • CQM Certification
