Job Summary
Lirio is seeking a Contract Behavioral Designer for a 6-month remote role starting January 2026. Must Have
- Lead the design and execution of literature reviews, including drafting protocols, conducting quality appraisals, synthesizing information, and writing reports.
- Provide support for behavioral research projects by conducting analysis, identifying trends, and applying behavioral science frameworks.
- Participate in and support primary research efforts, including client discovery and patient experience initiatives.
- Utilize research expertise and behavioral science frameworks to audit and review customer assets, providing actionable recommendations.
- Create strategy briefs and process-oriented materials for evidence-based intervention development.
- Participate in collaborative sessions to define intervention content and features.
- Provide recommendations on creative assets (content and visuals) through the lens of behavior science and end-user experience.
- Work directly with clients to review and refine solution content during implementation.
- Review existing solution content against recent research and Lirio-generated data to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Confident communicator with clear skills in writing, report preparation, and presentation.
- Master's degree in a behavioral science field (e.g., psychology, public health, behavioral economics).
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Good to Have
- Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments.
- Background in healthcare, such as experience in a health technology company or designing digital health interventions.
- Familiarity with inferential statistics and behavioral research methods.
- Experience with design thinking or human-centered design methods.
- Familiarity with web-based content management systems (CMS).

Contract Behavioral Designer

Lirio is a technology/software company that provides expertise in a variety of behavioral science domains (e.g., behavioral economics, social psychology, public health), data science, and machine learning to drive consumer engagement, close gaps in preventive and chronic care, and promote health and well-being across an individual’s lifespan. Lirio’s behavior change AI platform unites behavioral science with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver Precision Nudging health interventions. Precision Nudging is the application of behavioral science to health interventions personalized by AI to each individual that overcome barriers to action at the right time and place for scalable, behavior change.
This is a remote role. All applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
This is a 6-month contract role beginning in January 2026. Estimated pay range is $75-$100/hour.
Position Summary
The role of a Behavioral Designer at Lirio is pivotal in leveraging insights from behavioral science to shape our Precision Nudging® solutions. With your advanced education or professional experience in behavioral science disciplines, you bring the unique ability to translate academic insights into actionable guidance for our content developers and visual designers. This collaborative process culminates in message libraries meticulously crafted to address and overcome common barriers to healthcare behaviors.
As a Behavioral Designer, you will work closely with creative professionals, data scientists, and machine learning specialists to craft empowering experiences that help our clients support individuals on their path toward better health. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lirio’s Behavioral Design process covers four high-level stages: Research, Design, Build, and Implement/Refine. The Behavioral Designer supports intervention design across all four stages.
Research:
- With the support of the BD VP and/or Manager, lead the design and execution of literature reviews. This involves drafting protocols, conducting quality appraisals, synthesizing information, and writing reports.
- Provide support for behavioral research projects by conducting, analyzing trends, conducting credible just-in-time research, and applying behavioral science frameworks and theories.
- Participate in and provide support for primary research efforts, which may include client discovery research and patient experience initiatives, as needed.
- Utilize research expertise and behavioral science frameworks to audit and review customer assets, including content and visuals, and provide actionable recommendations.
Design
- Create strategy briefs and other process-oriented materials to direct evidence-based intervention development
- Participate in collaborative sessions with content developers, visual designers, behavioral designers, and others to define intervention content and features
Build:
- Provide recommendations on creative assets, including content and visuals, through the lens of behavior science and end user experience
- On occasion, work directly with clients to review and refine solution content during the implementation process
Implement/Refine:
- Review existing solution content against recent research and Lirio-generated data to identify and implement improvement opportunities
Other
- A confident communicator with clear skills in writing, report preparation, and presentation; adept at conveying ideas and concepts concisely and accurately to diverse audiences.
- Able to use judgement and engage wider internal stakeholder groups as required to enable optimal intervention design and implementation.
- As needed, serve as behavioral design squad leader
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Master's degree a behavioral science field (e.g., psychology, public health, behavioral economics, etc.)
