Job Summary

The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating advanced models and drawings of chassis, suspension, or surface components using specialized software. This role involves collaborating with calculation engineers, completing design documentation, and working closely with other engineering departments and external suppliers to optimize car performance. The engineer will apply material science and mechanical engineering principles to solve complex challenges and support prototype production.

Must Have

  • Design advanced models and drawings of chassis, suspension or surface components.
  • Liaise with the calculation engineer to optimize and verify the design.
  • Complete and release component designs and documentation, including drawings.
  • Close collaboration with other engineering departments and external suppliers.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge of material science and mechanical engineering.
  • Engineer parts for easy assembling and maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical engineering.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a comparable environment.
  • Strong composites background with solid understanding of materials science and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Good knowledge of CAD (CATIA V5 preferable).
  • Fluent English.

Good to Have

  • Experience and knowledge of surface design.
  • Knowledge of PLM System (Windchill preferable).

Job Description

Main tasks

  • Design advanced models and drawings of chassis, suspension or surface components with specialized softwares
  • Assign, approve, perform or delegate designs as appropriate
  • Liaise with the calculation engineer to optimize and verify the design
  • Complete and release component designs and documentation, including drawings
  • Close collaboration with other engineering departments and external suppliers to ensure fully integrated system designs, achieving optimal car performance
  • Supporting all areas/departments in the design office when workloads dictate
  • Apply theoretical knowledge of material science and mechanical engineering to solve complex engineering challenges
  • Engineer parts in ways to have easy assembling and maintenance in relationship with workshop leader
  • Establish ply book in relationship with composite and FEM engineers
  • Provide hands-on support of prototype and test sample production

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical engineering or similar background
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a comparable environment working with high performance parts
  • Have a strong composites background with a solid understanding of materials science and mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Good knowledge of CAD (CATIA V5 preferable)
  • Experience and knowledge of surface design is a plus
  • Knowledge of PLM System (Windchill preferable)
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal guidance and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Fluent English is compulsory
