The Director must possess strong storytelling abilities, leadership skills, and proficiency with animation software.
Must have:
  • Extensive experience directing in animated film or television.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of animation production techniques.
  • Strong storytelling abilities with visual narrative conveyance.
  • Leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding teams.
  • Proficient with animation software, including Blender.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to shifts.
Good to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Animation, or a related field.

About The Project:

We are embarking on the production of an animated series pilot that aims to blend innovative storytelling with cutting-edge animation techniques. Our objective is to deliver a pilot that not only captures the imagination of viewers and industry stakeholders but also lays the groundwork for a successful series commission. We seek a Director who can helm this pioneering project with a blend of creative vision, technical prowess, and a deep passion for storytelling.

Job Summary:

The Director will play a pivotal role in bringing the pilot episode to life, overseeing both its artistic and technical elements. This position involves leading creative teams, collaborating closely with the Producer, Art Director, and Technical Director, and ensuring the final product aligns with the overarching vision of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting the script and collaborating with the Producer to develop a cohesive visual and narrative style for the pilot.

  • Directing voice recording sessions to ensure performances are in line with character motivations and the project's tone.

  • Overseeing storyboard and animatic development, deciding on pacing, camera work, and scene transitions.

  • Ensuring the visual style is consistently applied across all elements, in close coordination with the Art Director.

  • Establishing efficient production workflows in collaboration with the Animation Director and Technical Director.

  • Providing creative oversight across all production facets, including character design, environment creation, and animation.

  • Leading the creative team, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Making casting decisions and directing actors for authentic character portrayals.

  • Approving creative materials during production to maintain quality standards and adherence to the creative vision.

  • Overseeing post-production to ensure a cohesive final product, including editing, sound design, and rendering.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience directing in animated film or television, with a portfolio demonstrating relevant work.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of animation production, including various animation techniques.

  • Strong storytelling abilities with a knack for visual and emotional narrative conveyance.

  • Leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding creative teams.

  • Innovative thinker with a strong passion for animation and storytelling.

  • Proficient with animation software, including Blender.

  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to project shifts.

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Film, Animation, or a related field.
