Job Summary
Join the Audi F1 Project as an Embedded Software Development Engineer for internal combustion engine controls in Neuburg, Germany. You will develop models and control algorithms for power unit software, focusing on combustion engine control (injection, ignition, air flow, boost pressure). Responsibilities include testing on HiL and test benches, creating automated tests, and supporting commissioning and race weekends from Mission Control. Contribute to the competitiveness of Audi's F1 power unit and influence development tools and processes.
Must Have
- Develop models and control algorithms for control unit software with a primary focus on combustion engine control
- Test developed control unit functions on HiL and, when needed, on the test bench
- Create and maintain automated tests for the sign-off of engine software
- Support test bench personnel in commissioning, use and application of developed software
- Develop concepts for the optimisation of engine control and compliance with FIA regulations
- Regularly support the on-site team from mission control in Neuburg during race weekends
- Completed degree or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, control engineering or similar
- In-depth experience in the development of control unit software with Matlab Simulink, ideally with McLaren Applied / Motion Applied MCT for TAG ECUs
- Experience in the field of combustion engine software and a very good understanding of high-performance engines, ideally in motorsport
- Business fluent technical English skills
Good to Have
- Good understanding of the hybrid torque path and the overall system of a racing car
- Interest in validating the overall software on MiL and HiLs
- Willingness to learn German

Our Team
Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.
Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).
In the field of control unit software, you will work on key components that bring the power unit’s performance to the racetrack and contribute to competitiveness in a highly competitive environment. You will work with an agile team to implement the dynamic requirements for power unit control (combustion engine, hybrid drivetrain, strategy). You will support our test and deployment teams as needed on the test benches and additionally during race weekends from Mission Control in Neuburg. Through HIL testing at the component and system level, you will ensure the usability and robustness of our power unit software in the F1 project. You will also have the opportunity to influence development tools and processes with your experience and new ideas.
Your Mission
- Development of models and control algorithms for control unit software with a primary focus on combustion engine control (injection, ignition, air flow, boost pressure control, etc.)

Your Profile
- Completed degree or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, control engineering or similar
- In-depth experience in the development of control unit software with Matlab Simulink, ideally with McLaren Applied / Motion Applied MCT for TAG ECUs
- Experience in the field of combustion engine software and a very good understanding of high-performance engines, ideally in motorsport
- Good understanding of the hybrid torque path and the overall system of a racing car

- Ability to solve problems quickly, in a goal-oriented and user-friendly manner
- A high degree of motivation, initiative and independence
- Business fluent technical English skills and a willingness to learn German are prerequisites
