Job Description

Attentive is seeking an Engineering Manager for its BI Tooling and Platform team. This role involves defining and driving the roadmap and vision for the BI tooling, ensuring alignment with company objectives and delivering high-impact solutions. The manager will be responsible for improving foundational systems, managing multiple projects, designing and implementing robust, scalable, and efficient systems for external metrics, and elevating code quality through rigorous code reviews and best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and coaching direct reports, expertise in coaching and mentoring, and experience with APIs, Java, Python, GraphQL, and AWS services. The role is focused on transforming complex data into actionable insights to empower clients and internal teams for growth.
Must have:
  • Manage and coach 4+ direct reports

  • Design and maintain robust, high-uptime systems

  • Experience with data (SQL, Analysis, Data Engineering)

What You'll Accomplish
  • Define and drive the roadmap and vision for the BI Tooling & Platform team, ensuring alignment with company objectives  and delivering high impact solutions.
  • Understand the technology in your domain identifying opportunities to improve foundational systems and setting the standard for excellence.
  • Manage, prioritize and thoroughly understand multiple projects, delivering high-quality results on time while balancing competing demands effectively.
  • Design, implement, and enhance systems that power our external metrics, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and efficient.
  • Elevate code quality through rigorous code reviews, comprehensive testing, and promoting best practices across the team.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical debt, safeguarding the long-term maintainability and scalability of our codebase
Your Expertise
  • Experience managing and coaching 4+ direct reports for growth and success in a fast paced environment
  • Proven expertise in coaching and mentoring, inspiring teams to excel and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • Experience with APIs, Java, Python, GraphQL
  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
  • 5+ years of industry experience in data engineering/software development, with a proven track record of solving complex challenges and delivering impactful solutions.
  • Track record of designing and maintaining robust, high-uptime systems that consistently exceed expectations for reliability and performance.

  • We have access to Python, Snowflake, SQL, DBT for analysis
  • Our data visualization tool is Looker
  • Our product backend is Java and Python microservices coupled with Spark, Kinesis, Airflow, Snowflake, and Postgres, all hosted on AWS
  • Our team supports stakeholders from Client Strategy, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, Designers and the Leadership Team

Nice to Haves
  • Experience working with data (SQL, Analysis, Data Engineering)

For US based applicants:
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $182,240 - $285,000 annually + equity + benefits
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
