Job Description

As an Engineering Manager on the Extensibility team, you will launch Airbyte's new Data Activation product and the next generation of our Connector Builder. You will lead the team, guide the architecture, and oversee project execution. This role involves managing a team, fostering innovation, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and driving the team's roadmap. You will also be responsible for the design, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality sources and aligning the team's goals with the company's vision. You will also be responsible for continuous improvement of engineering processes, documentation, and team practices.

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience

Opportunity

As an Engineering Manager on the Extensibility team, you will launch Airbyte's new Data Activation product. In addition, you will be responsible for releasing the next generation of our Connector Builder that will unlock no-code integration with APIs for AI and Reverse ETL use cases. This is some of the most transformative pieces of technology that we have developed at Airbyte. You will lead the team so that they can execute swiftly and intentionally on its roadmap. You will also help guide the architecture and best practices of the team. With your stewardship, the Extensibility team will unlock new major revenue streams for Airbyte.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the Extensibility team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Provide technical leadership to pioneer new patterns, tools, and frameworks for connector development.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, helping them grow their technical expertise and career paths.
  • Oversee the design, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality, high-volume, enterprise sources for Airbyte. 
  • Drive the strategic vision for database connectors and shape the team roadmap to align with company goals.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of projects ensuring milestones are delivered on time by coordinating with cross-functional teams. Manage project timelines, resources, and risks to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Build leverage: a week-long task this year should take ten minutes next year. Advocate for continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and team practices.

What You'll Need

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience building integrations at scale.
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
  • Ability to provide thought leadership and drive alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have an insatiable desire to ship.
  • A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level)
  • Belief in our values.

Location

  • San Francisco. Onsite 3x/week.

Salary

  • $220,000 - $245,000 base + a generous equity package, and benefits listed below for the U.S. market.
