Job Description

Adyen is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Testing Enablement team for their In-Person Payments (IPP) division. This role involves championing developer experience by leading the development and maintenance of critical automated testing frameworks and tools, specifically for Android-based payment terminals and mobile devices. The manager will drive innovation in testing practices, enhance testing efficiency, coverage, and debugging capabilities through new tooling, and optimize automated testing processes in collaboration with development teams. Responsibilities include coordinating infrastructure changes, defining the team's vision and strategy, and ensuring framework scalability and maintainability.

About the Role

As the Team Lead for our Testing Enablement team, you will champion developer experience by leading the development and maintenance of critical automated testing frameworks and tools. Your team of skilled developers will build solutions that empower other development teams to efficiently and reliably test our Payment Terminals Firmware. You will drive innovation and excellence in testing practices, ensuring our developers (and other stakeholders) have the tools they need to succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks (e2e) to be used in particular with Android-based payment terminals and mobile devices
  • Drive the creation of new tooling for improved testing efficiency, coverage, and debugging capabilities (auto coverage analysis, auto test generation, etc.).
  • Coordinate infrastructure changes and automation with various internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with developers on the In-Person-Payments team to understand and optimize the automated testing process, focusing on DevEx.
  • Define and communicate the team's vision and strategy, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Ensure the team's frameworks are scalable and maintainable.

Who You Are

  • Experienced with Kotlin/Java (5+ years) and preferably Android testing tooling
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams (a focus on developer tooling and DevEx is a plus)
  • Passionate about testing, reliability, and automation, with a focus on improving developer workflows.
  • Passionate about developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
  • Have a good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Gitlab, CI, Gradle).
  • Interested in using GenAI to solve practical issues related with testing/debugging (auto log analysis, test coverage analysis, etc.). Direct experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate developer needs into effective technical solutions.
  • You embody the Adyen Formula: open-minded, proactive, and focused on making things work while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
