The EIR will partner with the Investment Team during the deal sourcing and diligence phase, with the intent to take on the CEO role post-acquisition. Responsibilities include evaluating acquisition opportunities, developing post-close value creation plans, and leading the acquired company's growth. They will drive strategic and operational initiatives to accelerate growth, improve retention, and increase EBITDA, leading high-performing teams and setting a clear organizational vision.
Must have:

Job Title: Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR) - Future CEO of B2B SaaS Portfolio Company 

Location: Toronto, ON (In-Office) 

Reports To: Managing Partner 

Type: Full Time / Permanent 

Travel: Up to 30% 

We are currently seeking a motivated Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) who will transition into the CEO role for our next SaaS company acquisition. We are looking for an experienced leader who is highly driven to become a CEO. The EIR will first partner with our Investment Team during the deal sourcing and diligence phase, with the intent to take on the CEO role of a SaaS business post-acquisition. This is an opportunity to own the P&L of a well-positioned business and drive a growth journey, with the support of a committed investment partner. We invest in expansion-stage SaaS businesses with up to $20M of revenue, principally located in North America. This is a full-time opportunity. We are looking for someone to commit full-time and exclusively to this position.

About the Role 

The EIR will work closely with our investment team to evaluate acquisition opportunities, develop post-close value creation plans, and ultimately step into the CEO role of an acquired SaaS business. This is a unique opportunity for an operator with leadership experience to take ownership of a business and drive its growth under the strategic guidance and backing of our firm.  

Responsibilities 

Pre-Acquisition: 

  • Deal Sourcing & Evaluation - collaborate with the investment team to assess and diligence SaaS acquisition targets. Evaluate target companies’ presentations and investment materials. 
  • Contribute to investment theses by providing operational insight and identifying value creation levers. 
  • Participate in management meetings, customer interviews, and technology assessments. 
  • Assist in drafting integration plans, operating models and growth plans as part of the acquisition process. 

Post-Acquisition (as CEO): 

  • Assume day-to-day leadership of the acquired company, typically within 30 days post-close. 
  • Drive execution of strategic and operational initiatives to accelerate growth, grow revenues, improve retention, and increase EBITDA. 
  • Build, lead and retain high-performing teams, foster a strong company culture, and set a clear organizational vision. 
  • Professionalize systems, processes, and reporting. 
  • Partner closely with the Board and our firm on reporting, capital allocation, and strategic priorities. 
  • Lead product strategy and go-to-market initiatives. 

Requirements

  • SaaS Operator: 5+ years of leadership experience within B2B SaaS companies as a CEO, Founder, GM, or COO (preferably a VC or Private Equity-backed company)  OR 
  • Growth Leader: Proven success scaling a SaaS business, driving revenue growth and leading cross functional teams as a CRO, GTM Executive, Product or Technology Leader  OR  
  • Intrapreneurial Experience: Prior experience leading a business unit or line of business with full ownership of a P&L within a larger organization (ie. GM)  
  • Strategic & Tactical: Able to zoom out to think big picture, while diving into details when needed 
  • Data-Informed: Strong command of SaaS metrics, recurring revenue models, customer success, and operational KPIs and metrics 
  • Builder Mentality: Comfortable leading through ambiguity, executing rapidly, acting with urgency, creating structure in underdeveloped environments 
  • Culture Fit: humble, hardworking, respectful, can obtain customer trust, low-ego, high-impact and hands-on leadership style 
  • Strong communication skills and proven leadership skills  
  • Experience hiring, coaching, and leading teams
  • Demonstrated success managing a P&L, go-to-marketing planning and financial modeling
  • Versatile across business functions such as sales, product, marketing, and operations, with depth in at least one
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Collaborative individual who can work with cross-functional teams and with multiple levels and types of stakeholders, including Board Members, Investors, Executives, Employees, Customers, Partners, etc.  
  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with desire to be successful in a team culture
