We are now on the hunt for an experienced Scene Prep Artist who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners.


The start date for this role is 1st April 2024.


This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny. 


Due to employment time constraints, for this role we will only be able to consider applications from residents within the EU / EU passport holders only.   NO FREELANCE OPTION


The role is for a 2D animated feature film, with a hybrid mix of traditional and rigged animation. 


About the role

The role of Scene Prep Artist is to work closely with your Lead to prepare the Toon Boom Harmony scenes for Animation, export final animation and matte passes for Compositing, help with After Effects PreComp setups, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the production.

What you'll be doing

 

  • Set up and prepare Harmony and After Effects scene files for production, working to an assigned schedule and weekly output quota 
  • Collaborate with all other departments (Builds & Rigging, Background, Animation, Lighting & FX, Compositing) under the supervision of the Scene Prep & PreComp Leads
  • Assume primary responsibility for the technical performance of all scene files
  • Collaborate with the Technical Supervisor, IT and Pipeline departments to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues relating to your assigned shots, at any stage in the pipeline
  • Prepare export setups and assemble output material for compositing to an After Effects pipeline
  • Other related duties as may be required within stage compositing and scene preparation
  • Attend all meetings required by the production, including those identifying and resolving technical issues with shot files
  • Address any problems with Production Manager and Line Producer
  • Be available on messaging systems and by emails during working hours

     

    The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.

     

    What we're looking for

     

      • At least 1 year of experience working as a scene prep artist
      • Advanced knowledge in Toon Boom Harmony Premium is essential
      • Basic knowledge of Photoshop 
      • Familiarity with After Effects is considered an asset
      • Be driven and able to work effectively on an independent basis
      • Fluent in English
      • Ability to communicate well in a fast-paced and creative environment
      • Must possess excellent time management skills with the utmost respect for deadlines
      • Must be willing to relocate to Kilkenny
