Job Description

Qualcomm is seeking an Intern for a Deep Learning Research Internship in Canada, focusing on advancing generative modeling using video diffusion. The role involves exploring novel architectures, training strategies, and conditioning mechanisms for applications like image editing or facial reenactment. Responsibilities include dataset curation, model implementation, benchmarking, and optimization, with the expectation of contributing to top-tier conference paper submissions. This is a full-time, onsite position in Markham, requiring availability from May 2026 to August 2026.
Must Have:
  • Investigate novel architectures and training strategies to improve video generation quality and efficiency.
  • Explore conditioning mechanisms to extend existing video diffusion models to downstream applications.
  • Generate or curate use-case specific datasets to support model development and evaluation.
  • Implement and benchmark baseline models for comparative analysis, including thorough ablation studies.
  • Optimize model performance with a focus on computational efficiency and scalability.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience with Pytorch.
  • Knowledge of neural network architecture development and evaluation.
  • Expertise in Computer Vision.
  • Currently studying towards a Bachelors, Masters or PHD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Eligible candidates must have a graduation date in December 2026 or later, including May or June 2027.
  • Must be available May 2026 - August 2026 for a 4-month internship.
  • Ability to work full-time, onsite in Markham, five days a week.

The field of generative modeling is evolving rapidly, with video diffusion emerging as a powerful paradigm for high-quality, temporally consistent video synthesis. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to explore the applicability of video diffusion models [1, 2, 3] to various downstream applications, such as image editing [6, 7] or facial reenactment [4, 5].

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate novel architectures and training strategies to improve video generation quality and efficiency.
  • Explore conditioning mechanisms to extend existing video diffusion models to downstream applications.
  • Generate or curate use-case specific datasets to support model development and evaluation.
  • Implement and benchmark baseline models for comparative analysis, including thorough ablation studies.
  • Optimize model performance with a focus on computational efficiency and scalability.

The research conducted in this internship is aimed at advancing the field of generative modeling using video diffusion, with the expectation of contributing to paper submissions at top-tier conferences in the field.

Work Location: This is a full-time, onsite position. The role requires working from our office five days a week. Hybrid or remote work arrangements are not available.
