Exposure to non-EU regimes.
Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Tax Adviser, CPA).

About the role:

Are you ready to build and lead a global indirect tax function from the ground up? At JetBrains, we’re looking for a self-driven and experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join our international tax team. You’ll shape our global VAT and indirect tax strategy across 10+ office locations and dozens of countries where we sell our products and run events.

Reporting to the Group Tax Manager (Amsterdam), you will work closely with teams across legal, procurement, marketing, accounting, and more. This role offers the unique opportunity to influence business decisions, ensure compliance across a broad range of tax topics, and design scalable processes from scratch.

What You’ll Do:

Lead global indirect tax operations, including VAT, GST, digital services tax, US sales tax, consumption taxes, and customs duties across all our entities.
Design and implement end-to-end tax processes for new and existing operations (e.g., e-services, physical goods, employee benefits, events, and intercompany transactions).
Oversee accurate and timely compliance, including managing external service providers, registrations, and filings across all jurisdictions.
Evaluate and improve our indirect tax controls, policies, and procedures to minimize risk and support business scaling.
Advise internal teams on tax implications of commercial and operational initiatives, ensuring practical, business-focused solutions.
Collaborate on technology and automation initiatives related to tax reporting, invoicing, and ERP integrations.
Monitor global tax legislation changes, such as real-time reporting and e-invoicing rules, and lead implementation within JetBrains.
Manage audits and interactions with tax authorities, coordinating local responses and guiding communication strategies.
Coach internal stakeholders on VAT and indirect tax compliance best practices across departments and geographies.

About You:

You have 7+ years of experience in indirect taxation, with deep VAT expertise gained from a Big 4 firm, multinational corporation, or both.
You’re technically strong, with a solid understanding of international VAT frameworks, especially within the EU (knowledge of the Czech application of VAT rules is strongly preferred), and preferably some exposure to non-EU regimes.
You’re a confident communicator, able to explain complex tax matters in clear terms to stakeholders across the business.
You’re a self-starter and natural problem solver, comfortable building processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You thrive in cross-functional teams and enjoy collaborating with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
You have a degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Tax Adviser, CPA) are a plus.
You are fluent in English. Additional languages (especially Czech or Dutch) are a bonus.
