Job Details

Overview

Matic is bringing families out of the stone age of remarkably dumb disc home robots. Humanity spends ~2.5 trillion hours annually on home chores, worth $25 trillion in wasted economic value. We are on a mission to recapture this time and value with fully autonomous, useful, elegant, and affordable Wall-E-esque home robots that families love and cannot fathom their lives without.

Our approach
In 2017, we observed 200+ self-driving car startups and an equal number of industrial robotics startups, but the home autonomy and robotics space had been dramatically overlooked. While AI is becoming more ubiquitous, families are still stuck spending dozens of hours per week on repetitive household chores.

At Matic, we're leveraging advanced technology to address this problem. We've started by reimagining our first product in fully autonomous floor-cleaning robots. Just like consumers adopted Cell Phones, then PDAs, then iPods and Blackberries before adopting the iPhone to replace all, we believe that consumers will adopt single-purpose, elegant, and affordable robots that belong and become part of their homes first before we get one-robot-to-rule all chores.

Our goal is to continue automating other forms of household labor, shipping useful, affordable, and privacy-first robots to our users that solve real problems while building iteratively toward more complex tasks and capabilities over time.

Privacy first

Our robots are also private by design, with all the computes on the edge device. We believe that families shouldn't have to jeopardize their privacy just to get some help with the constant drudgery of home chores.

Who we are
We are a consumer robotics product company solving real customer problems. We start with a problem, think of an elegant solution in the form of robots, and conduct necessary research to build products that just work. We believe families want solutions to their problems, and AI & robots enable us to solve them.

Who we are NOT
We are NOT a Robotics Foundation Model research lab, a humanoid builder, or a robotics software platform company. We build fully autonomous, useful, elegant, and affordable Wall-E-esque robotic products that kids, pets, and families love!

About the role

We're seeking a driven and organized Talent and Operations Associate to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting our rapid team expansion by coordinating recruitment efforts, driving recruitment marketing, and managing operational tasks. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills to collaborate across teams.

Matic will select candidates with ability and desire to convert to full time without break if internship goes well. This role is not suitable for mid term internships.

What you'll do:

  • Manage project timelines for prototyping, testing, and manufacturing autonomous floor-cleaning robots, ensuring alignment with hardware design and system integration principles.

  • Facilitate collaboration between Hardware engineers and other teams to meet technical milestones, such as launching new robotic products.

  • Handle recruitment for Engineering and robotics roles, drafting technical job descriptions, screening candidates for skills in robotics design or mechanical and electronic systems, scheduling interviews, and managing offer logistics.

  • Research and reach out to candidates for specialized engineering positions, using your understanding of technical requirements to find strong talent.

  • Work with hiring managers to ensure candidates meet technical and cultural needs for our robotics team.

  • Create job ads and campaigns focused on Matic’s robotics technology to attract engineering talent, highlighting the technical challenges of our autonomous robots.

  • Collaborate with marketing to produce technical content, such as blog posts or whitepapers, about our robotic systems, drawing on knowledge of mechanical and electronics design and robotics functionality.

  • Develop systems to track hardware project timelines, recruitment progress, and operational tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and updates are shared with engineering leads.

  • Provide updates on hardware operations, recruitment, and marketing efforts to engineering and leadership teams.

  • Track recruitment metrics like time-to-hire and suggest ways to improve efficiency.

  • Stay current with trends in robotics and mechanical and electrical engineering to bring new ideas to the team.

  • Prepare reports on hardware operations and recruitment performance, including technical insights for leadership review.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Management is strongly preferred.

  • Leadership experience on engineering projects.

  • Understanding of Hardware Engineering concepts, especially in robotics, mechanical systems, or hardware development, to support operations and recruitment.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple technical and administrative tasks in a dynamic environment.

  • Clear communication skills to connect with engineering candidates, Hardware team members, and stakeholders.

  • Ability to learn tools for project management, task tracking, and technical analysis.

  • Proactive mindset and willingness to take on varied responsibilities in a robotics-focused setting.

  • Ability and desire to convert to full time without break if internship goes well.
