Notion is seeking a business-minded Head of Communications to establish it as the leading connected AI workspace. This role involves building a modern, content-driven communications approach that balances quick content moments with deliberate storytelling. The Head of Communications will lead the global Communications team to develop an integrated narrative, cultivate the builder audience, and create customer-centric stories. Responsibilities include leading the 'SNL Writers' Room' for content creation, driving external communications like media relations and executive thought leadership, establishing internal communications strategies, and emphasizing video content production. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial vision, understand technology and business, and excel at translating complex ideas into resonant narratives.

As an in-person company, we currently require employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that they spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

About The Role:

We're looking for a business-minded communications leader to establish Notion as the leading connected AI workspace. As Head of Communications, you'll be responsible for building a modern, content-driven communications approach that cuts through market noise while balancing quick, timely content moments with deliberate storytelling that conveys Notion's full value.

You'll lead our global Communications team to develop an integrated narrative positioning Notion as the leading connected AI workspace, cultivate our builder audience, and create customer-centric stories that map to the builder journey. You'll also lead our “SNL Writers’ Room”, our cross-functional creativity engine that conceives unique content while keeping us ahead of industry trends.

The ideal candidate brings strong editorial vision and can shepherd and develop ideas from across the organization into compelling narratives. You understand both technology and business, can translate complex, fast-evolving ideas into stories that resonate, educates the market and converts users into buyers.

What You'll Achieve:

  • Develop and execute an integrated narrative strategy that positions Notion as the connected AI workspace while highlighting how we help organizations work more effectively, collaborate seamlessly, and scale operations.
  • Lead the "SNL Writers Room" to produce a range of content—from thought leadership to daily social/video content—that captures the cultural zeitgeist and educates our audience.
  • Drive external communications including media relations, executive thought leadership, and reputation management to secure top-tier coverage for launches and leadership.
  • Establish internal communications strategies that transform employees into authentic brand ambassadors and ensure consistent messaging across the company.
  • Place special emphasis on creating a range of videos—from low-fidelity to high-production—distributed frequently across social channels to bring Notion solutions to life.
  • Partner closely with the founders, executives, Notion users, and media to amplify Notion's voice and story.
  • Use data and insights to inform and optimize content strategy, ensuring all communications efforts deliver measurable business results.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • 12+ years of communications and/or content experience, with a track record of managing cross-functional teams
  • Business-minded approach with ability to understand and communicate technology concepts clearly to various audiences
  • Strong editorial vision combined with operational expertise to execute at global scale
  • Experience navigating the transition from product-led growth to an enterprise motion
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with a clear and warm communication style
  • Deep understanding of the online social discourse and ability to translate complex, fast-evolving ideas into compelling narratives
  • Innovative mindset—willing to take risks, try new things, and challenge the status quo
  • Flexible, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and growing environment
  • Strong execution mindset with ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality work on tight timelines
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to unleash their creative potential

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience leading integrated communications teams spanning PR, content marketing, social media, and internal communications
  • Background in both B2C and B2B communications with emphasis on SaaS or technology products
  • Demonstrated success in building content engines that fuel go-to-market motions
  • Experience developing video content strategies and production workflows

Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role's scope and complexity, and the candidate's experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base salary range for this role is $300-350,000 per year.
