White Hat Gaming is seeking a Head of Technical Compliance to provide strategic leadership in ensuring full system compliance in regulated markets, bridging the gap between legal, compliance, and technical teams. This role reports to the VP – Tech Compliance & Services and will manage a team of eight remote Technical Compliance specialists. Responsibilities include leading strategic initiatives, managing governance across Technical Compliance, QA Testing, and Change Control, evolving key management processes, maintaining compliance with market regulations, and embedding a federated reporting model. The role also involves risk identification and escalation, action tracking, budget planning, and managing relationships with service departments.
Must have:
  • 3+ years in a Senior/Managerial Technical leadership position
  • 2+ years senior-level experience in regulated markets
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Change Management (ITIL preferred)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
Good to have:
  • Gambling industry experience (Sportsbook/iGaming)
  • Legal education (law degree or equivalent)
  • Prior experience in US regulatory frameworks

In Summary:


We are seeking a Head of Technical Compliance to provide strategic leadership in ensuring full system compliance in regulated markets, bridging the gap between our legal, compliance and technical teams.

 

As the Head of Technical Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to regulatory matters and technical compliance. The role reports to the VP – Tech Compliance & Services and have 8 highly skilled Technical Compliance specialists reporting to you remotely.

 

Your day to day:

  • Lead ad-hoc functional and strategic initiatives, including the implementation of a new operating model, ways of working, and cultural behaviours across the Technical Compliance and Technical Services departments.
  • Key departments include Technical Compliance, QA Testing, and Change Control.
  • Lead, support, and coordinate the design, operation, and maintenance of governance across the above teams, including quarterly effectiveness reviews requiring direct engagement.
  • Oversee the evolution and suitability of key management processes in response to internal business and organisational changes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market context to ensure system development remains fully compliant across workflows.
  • Stay up to date with evolving market regulations to ensure continued platform compliance.
  • Lead and embed a federated reporting model, providing quality assurance before document and response submissions.
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks through formal reporting or other escalation channels.
  • Drive and enhance federated action tracking across departments, ensuring accountability and clear follow-up mechanisms.
  • Support budget and headcount planning in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Represent WHG in supporting the departmental communication plan, including event coordination and content development.
  • Manage relationships with service departments, ensuring service delivery meets agreed standards and SLAs are regularly reviewed and challenged where necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams) to streamline reporting and fulfilment of requirements.



What we are looking for:

  • Experience in the Gambling industry, ideally Sportsbook and iGaming is essential.
  • 3+ years in a Senior or Managerial Technical leadership position.
  • 2+ years of proven senior-level experience in a regulated market, focused on analysing technical regulatory requirements.
  • A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (coding not required), and familiarity with system architecture.
  • Thorough knowledge of Change Management, ideally in accordance with ITIL standards.
  • Creative thinking to contribute to the development of market-leading products while ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, maintain documentation, think critically, and take ownership of delivery.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.

 

Nice to have:

  • A legal education, such as a law degree or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working within US regulatory frameworks.
