Activate is a tech company building interactive gaming facilities across Canada and the US. They are seeking a Human Resource Generalist to support their HR team with policy compliance, recruitment, HR systems, and reporting. Key responsibilities include policy development and implementation, recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations, compensation administration, training and development, and special projects. The role involves research on legislative requirements and compliance in Canada and the US, preparing reports on job evaluation and pay equity, updating policies, tracking compliance training, and maintaining employee files. The position also entails auditing HRIS and SharePoint for accuracy, ensuring consistent information between payroll and HRIS systems, developing HR metrics and reports, supporting team-building activities, and analyzing employee experience surveys. The role also includes maintaining and updating job profiles, prescreening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating onboarding and offboarding processes.
Must have:
  • Certificate or diploma in HR Management
  • 2-3 years of HR experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task

Activate is a tech company known for creating Canada’s first full-scale interactive gaming facility.  We are looking to expand our team with the addition of a Human Resource Generalist.  A successful applicant will be responsible to support the HR team through dedicated HR focus on policy compliance, recruitment, HR systems and reporting.
The incumbent in this role will have key responsibilities in policy development and implementation, recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations, compensation administration, training and development, and special projects as required. 
This is a full-time and permanent position.


The Duties and Responsibilities: 

 
Compliance


  • Research legislative requirements and assess compliance in various jurisdictions in Canada and the U.S
  • Prepare reporting, research and analysis on Job evaluation/Pay equity legislation and reporting requirements and submissions
  • Update policies and policy wording as requested
  • Ensure proper tracking of all compliance training; participate in training rollout and execution
  • Maintain accurate employee file by supporting administration of employee requests and leaves including protected leaves, and WCB claims 


HR Process and Systems 


  • Audit folders of the HRIS and SharePoint for completeness and for accuracy of documentation within the folders
  • Ensure Payroll and HRIS systems are communicating consistent information
  • Develop templates and reporting on HR metrics; provide data driven HR reporting
  • Work with the team to initiate team building activities and provide administrative support with events
  • Conduct reporting and analysis on the results of Employee Experience and Employee Wellbeing surveys
  • Develop presentations for training, and ensure proper tracking of all required training


 
Talent Acquisition and Retention


  • Responsible to maintain and update job profiles, interview guides, create postings for approval that are consistent with our corporate brand and brand messaging 
  • Prescreen candidates and ensure recruitment process is updated in HRIS 
  • Schedule and participate in interviews with hiring leaders for designated roles
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding process, including orientation and first day readiness

The Qualifications: 


  • Certificate or diploma in HR Management completed or in progress, or other related fields 
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Word and Excel (Advanced)
  • Demonstrated expertise in proficiency, developing and managing relationships
  • Knowledge of trends in the industry including all aspects of legislation
  • Above average communication skills; written and verbal
  • Quick learner, creative, self-motivated and detail-oriented. Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities
