ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES We are seeking a motivated Intern for our Sputter Process Engineering team in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in thin film deposition techniques and contribute to cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing processes. * Assist in the operation and maintenance of sputtering equipment * Collect and analyze data from sputter deposition processes * Support process optimization efforts through data interpretation and statistical analysis * Participate in experiments to improve thin film quality and deposition efficiency * Participate in precious metal cost saving project * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot process issues * Maintain accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results * Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sputtering processes * Present findings and recommendations to the engineering team REQUIRED * Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field * Strong knowledge of sputtering processes and thin film deposition techniques * Effective communication and teamwork skills * Ability to follow cleanroom protocols and safety procedures PREFERRED: * Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) * Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) * Familiarity with cleanroom operations SKILLS * Basic understanding of vacuum systems and semiconductor manufacturing processes * Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills * Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) * Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment   Western Digital thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
