Job Description

The Java Developer Intern will assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of Java-based applications. Responsibilities include writing clean code, collaborating with engineers and designers, troubleshooting issues, working with databases and APIs, and participating in team meetings. The intern will also learn and apply new tools and best practices to build quality software solutions in a dynamic environment, contributing to real-world impact.
Must have:
  • Basic knowledge of Java programming
  • Understanding of common programming paradigms
  • Exposure to relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with Git or similar tools
  • Experience with testing and mocking frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Advanced English speaking and writing abilities
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices
  • Basic knowledge of Agile methodologies

Job Description

Development is the largest discipline at Endava. Our developers design, build, and release software products in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. Always collaborating with cross-functional project teams, our developers are adaptable problem-solvers with a client-oriented mindset.  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of Java-based applications
  • Write clean and efficient code with guidance from senior developers 
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to build quality software solutions 
  • Help troubleshoot issues and improve application performance and security 
  • Work with databases, RESTful APIs, and third-party integrations 
  • Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and best practices 
  • Participate in team meetings and code reviews. 

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of Java programming 
  • Good understanding of different common programming paradigms (OOP, Functional, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with technologies like Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle is a plus 
  • Exposure to relational databases and basic SQL 
  • Some experience with Git or similar version control tools 
  • Experience with testing and mocking frameworks 
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices 
  • Basic knowledge of Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, KANBAN) is a plus 
  • Strong problem-solving attitude and eagerness to learn 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team 
  • Advanced English speaking and writing abilities are required.
