This Junior DevOps Engineer role focuses on applications management, overseeing software lifecycle from deployment to optimization. The ideal candidate will build stakeholder relationships, understand complex problems, and focus on solutions. The role is part of a multi-week learning program, involving technical design, cloud service management, and improving service delivery. Responsibilities include building and managing cloud infrastructure, implementing DevOps culture, and streamlining application delivery processes.
Must have:
  • Assist team in developing design and specifications for products.
  • Build and manage cloud services and related software.
  • Consult on best use of cloud services for project teams.
  • Manage and operate Windows and Linux based systems.
  • Build new cloud infrastructure using IaC (Bicep or Terraform).
  • Maintain cloud infrastructure following Site Reliability Engineering principles.
  • Implement and share DevOps culture across delivery teams.
  • Build and deploy system improvement ideas.
  • Responsible for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery process.
  • Work with developers to streamline application delivery processes.
  • Document existing processes.
  • Apply effective communication skills with team and client.
  • Actively involved in regular project planning activities.
  • Work with development team to automate processes on platform and application layers.
  • Work with project stakeholders to create status reports, identify requirements and risks.

Job Description

Applications Management involves overseeing the lifecycle of software applications, including deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization to ensure they meet business requirements and deliver value effectively.

We are looking for an individual who is willing to build professional relationships with key stakeholders within the company, with the ability to understand complex problems and focus on the best solutions according to the business needs. You will be exposed to a variety of challenges, from technical solutions and design to improving service delivery from an end-to-end perspective.

This role is part of the School of Applications Management program, a multi-week learning program that combines self-paced study, practical assignments, and ongoing assessments throughout the program’s duration.

Responsibilities:

  • The DevOps Engineer assists the team in developing the design and specifications based on project requirements for multiple products in the Products and Software Development (P&SD) portfolio
  • Builds and manages cloud services and related software
  • Consults with project and product teams on the best use of cloud services
  • Manages and operates Windows and Linux based systems
  • Builds out new cloud infrastructure (IaC based Bicep or Terraform)
  • Maintains cloud infrastructure by following site reliability engineering (SRE) principles
  • Implements and shares DevOps culture across delivery teams and the broader business
  • Builds and deploys system improvement ideas
  • Responsible for the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery process
  • Works with developers to streamline application delivery processes
  • Documents existing processes
  • Applies effective communication skills with team and client interaction
  • Actively involved in regular project planning activities
  • Works closely with the development team to support product delivery by automating the processes on the platform and application layers
  • Works with project stakeholders to create status reports, identify requirements and risks on the project

Qualifications

  • Some experience in building and managing cloud infrastructure is essential
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
  • Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or similar tools
  • Scripting capabilities, such as Bash, Python, PowerShell
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Communication and collaboration abilities
  • Relevant Azure/AWS certifications are a plus
