Our Story:
At DECK 13 Interactive, we’re more than just a game development studio—we’re a diverse, passionate community of creators dedicated to crafting unforgettable gaming experiences. Since our founding in 2001, in the heart of Frankfurt, Germany, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in PC and console games. Now part of the PulluP Entertainment group, our team of around 100 talented professionals continues to shape the future of gaming.
We’re the minds behind titles like Lords of the Fallen, The Surge series, and Atlas Fallen, known for their rich worlds and immersive gameplay. But we believe the best games are still ahead of us, and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Environment Artist (f/m/x) to support our creative team by bringing stunning worlds and memorable gaming experiences to life.
Your Quest:
As a Junior Environment Artist, you will closely collaborate with a senior team, primarily focusing on level assembly and set dressing. You'll work hand-in-hand with level designers to create immersive, visually compelling environments through careful placement and composition of assets. Additionally, you'll engage in asset creation, kitbashing, and provide support in communicating with external vendors.
Your mission includes:
- Assembling levels in cooperation with level designers, ensuring immersive environments and effective gameplay integration
- Set dressing environments to enhance storytelling and visual appeal
- Creating assets and kitbashing to support environmental storytelling and aesthetic goals
- Assisting with external vendor coordination, including preparing briefs and providing clear, actionable feedback
- Actively participating in review cycles and constructively applying feedback to continuously improve visual quality
- Contributing to a structured, collaborative, and creatively stimulating work environment
Your Toolkit:
- A passion for creating compelling environment art with an excellent eye for detail, aesthetics, and design
- Solid portfolio showcasing skills in both hard-surface and organic modeling, texture creation, and an understanding of form, shape, and composition
- Familiarity with industry-standard 3D software (Maya is a plus) and texturing tools (Substance Painter/Designer)
- Solid knowledge of sculpting tools such as ZBrush, with enthusiasm for further development
- Willingness and ability to learn new pipelines and adapt to established workflows, especially within Unreal Engine 5
- A collaborative attitude and openness to constructive feedback, eager to grow through an iterative creative process
- Good communication skills, with fluency in English (German is a plus)
- Please include a strong cover letter with your application
