As a Layout Artist, you will collaborate with your supervisor, utilizing your creative skills in cinematography to contribute to the storytelling process and maintain workflow. The role involves a strong understanding of composition, camera work, animation timing, and narrative storytelling. Responsibilities include working in Maya, knowledge of layout workflows, camera rigs, and cinematography. The ability to meet deadlines and effective communication skills are essential for this role. The candidate should also be able to take direction and be flexible. You will be working on projects like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Stranger Things animated series.
Must Have:
  • Strong composition, cinematic camera work, animation timing, storytelling skills.
  • Experience and understanding of Maya in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of layout workflows, camera rigs, and cinematography.

Flying Bark Productions is working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan. 


*Prioritising candidates based in Australia, onsite preferred*


As a Layout Artist you will get to work closely with your supervisor, experiencing freedom by flexing your creative muscles and actively participating in the storytelling process through cinematography and helping to maintain the flow of the work.


About you:

  • Strong sense of composition, cinematic camera work, animation timing and narrative storytelling;
  • Experience and understanding of Maya in a production based environment;
  • Knowledge of layout workflows, live action and CG camera lens information, camera rigs and cinematography;
  • Ability to meet consistently meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to share information in a team environment;
  • Ability to take direction and be flexible and responsive to change;
  • Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision;
  • Enthusiasm and passion for animation, cameras and cinematography.
