Job Description

As a member of the Electrical Integration Team, you will be responsible for engineering design of electrical systems for locomotives, including point-to-point wiring, schematics, and harness packaging. You will work on the latest technology, high business impact, global projects, demonstrating strong technical skills to meet business-critical needs by following robust Wabtec Business & Engineering processes. The role involves tracking and executing design, test, or integration, communicating business goals, generating new ideas, and supporting manufacturing.

  • Experience on UG NX Electrical Routing Module.
Must Have:
  • Track and execute, with general guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
  • Generate new and fresh ideas to everyday processes and act accordingly upon on them.
  • Support manufacturing and correlated areas by researching issues, interacting with the shop floor, and ensuring communication of the resolution to each issue in a timely manner.
  • Responsibilities to include development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for locomotive wiring schematics, wiring harnesses and its components.
  • Mechanical routing, and review of packaging of power cabling, control and network wiring, conduits and different electrical components on various locomotive projects will also be required.
  • Ownership of stated technical / safety / cost / reliability / performance requirements for schematic and wire lists plus inputs to mechanical routing, 3D wiring and packaging design.
  • Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Lead technical design reviews following the Business Tollgate Design Review process and the area guides.
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Understanding and working experience on wiring harness and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of tools such as, Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, Siemens NX, MS Office Suite.
  • Understanding engineering drawings and manufacturing BOM.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

Role Summary/Purpose:

As a member of the Electrical Integration Team, you will be responsible for engineering design of electrical system for locomotives, including point to point wiring, schematics, and harness packaging. You will be working on latest technology, high business impact, global projects that give exposure to working with senior technologists & leaders. You will demonstrate strong technical skills to meet business critical needs and by following robust Wabtec Business & Engineering processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Track and execute, with general guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.
  • Generate new and fresh ideas to everyday processes and act accordingly upon on them.
  • Support manufacturing and correlated areas by researching issues, interacting with the shop floor, and ensuring communication of the resolution to each issue in a timely manner.
  • Responsibilities to include development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis for locomotive wiring schematics, wiring harnesses and its components. In addition, mechanical routing, and review of packaging of power cabling, control and network wiring, conduits and different electrical components on various locomotive projects will also be required.
  • Ownership of stated technical / safety / cost / reliability / performance requirements for schematic and wire lists plus inputs to mechanical routing, 3D wiring and packaging design.
  • Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and supply chain operations across the global sites.
  • Review and approve designs developed by Wabtec designers & detailed drawings completed by drafting.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Lead technical design reviews following the Business Tollgate Design Review process and the area guides.
