As a Lead Technical Artist, you will lead a team of tech artists and engineers, contributing to project excellence. This client-facing role involves maintaining technical standards, communicating with clients, and ensuring efficient project execution. Responsibilities include forming creative and technical visions, implementing complex features, optimizing performance, and managing resources for next-gen titles. The role also involves developing team principles and documenting processes.
Must have:
  • 7+ years in game development
  • 5+ years as a Technical Artist
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Strong technical base with programming experience (Python, HLSL, GLSL)
  • Experience in AA or AAA projects
  • Excellent communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with CryEngine, C++, Tech-Anim
  • Basic understanding of graphics programming

Job Details

Room 8 Group is an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Working across all platforms, we provide creative and technical expertise across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA for AAA and AA games.

Our Game Development team provides comprehensive co-dev and full-cycle dev solutions, across all platforms. We’ve helped make some of the biggest games of the past decade, like Call of Duty:

Modern Warfare II and III, and we work with dozens of the world’s biggest publishers and developers.

Through primarily organic growth, we are proudly independent, now home to around 1,100 creatives based in Europe, North America, and South America.

We are looking for a Lead Technical Artist with experience leading mid-size teams while contributing to the project themselves as well. It’s a client-facing role where you will be the main point of contact and questions and will be responsible for maintaining and coordinating technical excellence on the project, alongside communicating needs and information to a client or from the client to the team.

Superpowers you have:

  • 7+ years in game development
  • At least 5 years as a Technical Artist
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Strong technical base with some programming experience in Python for automation and shader programming (HLSL, GLSL not node based)
  • Experience working on large-scale, technically complex projects, AA or AAA
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive mindset

You’re a rockstar if you have:

  • Experience with CryEngine, C++, Tech-Anim
  • Basic understanding of graphics programming
