About the team
As the Licensing & Partnerships Manager, you’ll join Canva’s Content Partnerships team, a small but mighty group scaling our relationships with global licensing partners, including music labels, publishers, and branded IP owners. Together, you’ll drive the growth of our branded content library and help shape how iconic content shows up in Canva. You’ll lead high-level negotiations and ensure the seamless integration of content into Canva’s platform. With team members across Australia and North America, you’ll play a key role in building processes that scale and delivering global impact.
This is a unique opportunity to shape Canva’s branded IP strategy, empowering millions of users to design with diverse, high-quality content.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Managing Canva’s relationships with global licensing partners, including music labels, publishers, entertainment studios, and branded IP owners.
- Developing and executing partnership strategies to scale Canva’s branded content offerings globally.
- Owning 10–15 active partner relationships end-to-end, from deal structuring to onboarding and performance tracking.
- Overseeing rights clearances, including licensing agreements for music, entertainment properties, and other branded assets.
- Sourcing and securing exclusive content and partnerships to enhance Canva’s creative library.
- Building and maintaining long-term partnerships with key industry stakeholders, including major and independent rights holders.
- Represent Canva at industry events, panels, and meetings, positioning Canva as a leader in the creative tools space.
- Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of licensed content into Canva’s platform.
- Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to support campaigns that leverage Canva’s branded content library.
- Act as Canva’s internal expert on content licensing and branded IP, providing insights to shape business decisions and drive innovation.
- Partnering closely with product, design, and marketing teams to launch creative collaborations and support content integration into our platform.
- Analyse usage data to track the performance of licensed content and guide future acquisitions.
- Develop KPIs and measure the impact of branded content on Canva’s user experience and engagement.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members working on licensing and partnerships.
You're probably a match if you
- Have proven experience in licensing, partnerships, relationship management or related roles within the media, entertainment, or tech industries.
- You’re a relationship-first operator who thrives on shaping and growing creative partnerships that unlock mutual value.
- A track record of owning and growing relationships with content owners, music labels, publishers, and IP holders at a senior level.
- You’re deeply curious and not afraid to ask the hard (or smart!) questions to get to the best outcomes.
- A track record of owning and growing relationships with content owners, music labels, publishers, and IP holders at a senior level.
- Demonstrated success in structuring and finalising complex licensing agreements.
- Experience using data to measure success, track performance, and inform decision-making.
- A team player who thrives in cross-functional environments and works effectively with product, design, marketing, and legal teams.
- A genuine enthusiasm for empowering users through creative tools like Canva and a passion for high-quality branded content.
