The Ads Creative Effectiveness team builds generative-AI and predictive products to help advertisers ship high-impact campaigns. As manager, you will set the technical vision, scale the team, and deliver ML-powered tools like image/headline generators and real-time creative ranking to enhance advertiser performance.
Must have:
  • Lead & Grow: Hire, mentor, and retain diverse MLEs and software engineers.
  • Set Vision: Define long-term roadmaps aligning generative AI bets with Ads OKRs.
  • Ship Products: Launch and scale LLM/VLM-powered generators and predictive models.
  • Build Systems: Architect low-latency generation/serving stacks and petabyte-scale feature pipelines.
  • Drive Experiments: Establish rigorous A/B and causal-inference frameworks.
  • Partner Broadly: Collaborate with Product, Sales, Policy, UX, and sibling Ads ML teams.
  • Guardrails & Safety: Embed brand-safety filters, copyright checks, and human-in-the-loop escalation paths.
  • Deep ML Expertise: Hands-on experience with tree models, neural nets, ranking, LLM/VLM fine-tuning & RLHF/RLPF for ads.
  • Scalable Systems Know-How: Proven track record building high-throughput, low-latency services and real-time data pipelines.
  • Quant & Experimentation Chops: Comfort with uplift metrics, variance, and causal inference.
  • Ads / Marketplace Insight: Understanding auction dynamics and advertiser pain points.
  • Startup Mindset: Bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and scrappiness.
  • People Leadership: Experience mentoring and scaling high-impact ML teams.
  • Communication Superpowers: Able to distill complex ML trade-offs for various stakeholders.

Job Details

Reddit’s newly minted Ads Creative Effectiveness team sits at the heart of our creative strategy, building generative-AI and predictive products that help advertisers ship high-impact campaigns. As the team’s manager, you will set the technical vision, scale a scrappy “startup-within-Reddit,” and deliver ML-powered tools, from image/headline generators to real-time creative ranking, that raise the performance bar for every advertiser on the platform.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead & Grow: Hire, mentor, and retain a diverse crew of MLEs and software engineers with a strong product mindset. Foster a culture of rapid iteration, ownership, and inclusion.
  • Set Vision: Work with product to define long term roadmaps that aligns generative AI bets with Ads OKRs. Translate fuzzy ideas into concrete milestones, measurable outcomes, and define technical steps that answer “how do we best build this?”.
  • Ship Products: Launch and scale LLM/VLM-powered generators (images, video, text) and predictive models (creative quality scores, brand-lift). Own the full lifecycle from prototype to production.
  • Build Systems: Architect low-latency generation/serving stacks and petabyte-scale feature pipelines that meet privacy, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive Experiments: Establish rigorous A/B and causal-inference frameworks; quantify lift, marketplace impact, and advertiser ROI.
  • Partner Broadly: Collaborate with Product, Sales, Policy, UX, and sibling Ads ML teams to integrate ACE capabilities into the self-serve flow and the ad auction.
  • Guardrails & Safety: Embed brand-safety filters, copyright checks, and human-in-the-loop escalation paths to protect users and advertisers.

What we’re looking for:

  • Deep ML Expertise: Hands-on experience with tree models, neural nets, ranking, and especially LLM/VLM fine-tuning & RLHF/RLPF for ads.
  • Scalable Systems Know-How: Proven track record building high-throughput, low-latency services and real-time data pipelines.
  • Quant & Experimentation Chops: Comfort with uplift metrics, variance, and causal inference ensures shipping impactful features.
  • Ads / Marketplace Insight: Understanding auction dynamics and advertiser pain points to create tools that drive revenue and retention.
  • Startup Mindset: Bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and scrappiness: ACE was formed via startup acquisition and still moves fast.
  • People Leadership: Experience mentoring and scaling high-impact ML teams; strong coaching and performance-management skills.
  • Communication Superpowers: Able to distill complex ML trade-offs for executives, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders alike.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. The base pay range for this position is:

$230,000 - $322,000 USD
