Machine Operator

Sika is seeking an experienced Machine Operator for its Canton, MA Roofing business. The role involves ensuring the safe and proper operation of a designated part of the M48 spreadcoating line, including startup, shutdown, and basic troubleshooting of equipment. The operator will communicate effectively with the team, maintenance, and management regarding issues and hazards, maintain a clean and safe work area, and engage in the SikaSafe safety program. This full-time position requires daily attendance at pre-shift meetings and may involve overtime.

Must Have

• Oversee startup, shutdown, and operation of key pieces of equipment
• Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with the team
• Basic troubleshooting of equipment and knowledge of how to handle specific situations/issues
• Communicate issues and concerns to both maintenance and management
• Identify hazards and anomalies in the process and communicate them to the appropriate parties
• Maintain a positive relationship with both Maintenance and Quality Assurance and seek them out when needed
• Responsible for cleanliness and safe operation of designated work area
• Daily attendance at a pre-shift starter meeting is required
• Engagement in SikaSafe safety program required
• Relieve operators for breaks

Good to Have

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience with plastics, vinyl coating, lamination or printing production highly desirable
• Ability to read and write English
• Good verbal communications skills
• Understanding of how to use a touch-screen (PLC) production line
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures
• Ability and willingness to work overtime if required
• Availability and willingness to cover any shift with prior notification

The Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring successful operation of their respective part of the M48 spreadcoating line. Their primary function will be to ensure the safe and proper operation of a designated portion of the M48 spreadcoating line.
